Top dressing of peppers in the greenhouse: growing conditions
Probably many people know that pepper is a heat-loving culture. Peppers are very popular not only for their unique taste, but also for the amount of vitamins and minerals they contain. For example, you knew that peppers have a little more Vitamin C than lemons, and the Vitamin A content is not inferior to the amount of this vitamin in carrots. It is also important that pepper is a dietary vegetable. 100 g of pepper contains only 25 kcal. But, unfortunately, pepper is quite whimsical to care for, but if you really want to grow it in your greenhouse, then fulfill all the conditions, and then you can get a good harvest. Although caring for peppers that grows in open soil is not so different from caring for greenhouse conditions, there are still some subtleties. Next, we will talk about what kind of feeding of peppers in a greenhouse is necessary for their good harvest.
Consider what are the conditions for growing peppers.
• The soil should be light, fertile, slightly acidic and close to neutral reaction. • Daylight hours for peppers should be no more than 7-8 hours. The soil should be warm - +18 +23 degrees, and the air should be warm - +22 +27 degrees.
• Watering should be frequent, but not plentiful. The water should only be warm - + 20 + 24 degrees, but not lower.
• You should constantly fertilize the soil. In this case, the composition should contain a large amount of potassium.
It is also important to know those points that negatively affect the cultivation of peppers:
• Strong soil is not recommended for pepper, it is recommended to mulch the soil from time to time, and it is not worth loosening it. In order for the peppers to develop well, the soil must have good air and moisture permeability.
• When you plant seedlings, do not bury them or transplant them from one place to another.
• If the air temperature is above +35 degrees, as well as fluctuations in night and day temperatures, will also have a negative impact.
• If you use acidic soil, manure, a large dose of nitrogen fertilizers, you will not be able to get a good and rich harvest.
• Direct sunlight or extended daylight hours will harm the peppers and cause burns.
Top dressing of peppers in the greenhouse: features
Before you start growing peppers in greenhouse conditions, you need to take into account a number of features. The most important point to pay attention to is to choose the right variety that can grow in greenhouse conditions. Bell peppers can be consumed at the stage of technical maturity, being already in storage can acquire the desired taste and color. The same cannot be said about the Dutch hybrids. Until ripening, it is better not to collect them, because before reaching the desired stage, it will have an unpleasant taste. To reach technical maturity, pepper needs 70-170 days, for biological ripeness - 90-200 days. But thanks to polycarbonate greenhouses, which have artificial lighting, irrigation, heating, it is possible to grow various varieties of peppers, even late varieties, which have large sizes and thick walls. You need to choose those varieties that can be grown in greenhouse conditions. The main advantage of growing peppers in greenhouses is that it is easier and easier to create favorable conditions for growing peppers in closed conditions, and it is not so difficult to control pests.Due to the fact that in the greenhouse, the peppers begin to return the harvest faster, and ends a little later. Therefore, for greenhouses, it is best to opt for tall varieties that have a long fruiting time.
What substances does pepper need for development
As with any crop, peppers need potassium, phosphorus, nitrogen and other important micronutrients to feed them after they are planted in the greenhouse. Nitrogen should be added at a time when the green mass begins to build up, during flowering and fruiting - the amount of nitrogen should be slightly reduced. On the contrary, phosphorus and potassium are very necessary during flowering and fruiting. But keep in mind that you need a lot more potassium than phosphorus. As for microelements, peppers are in great need of magnesium and calcium. For better assimilation of these microelements, they can be introduced as foliar fertilizer. Organic fertilizer also works well for peppers throughout the season, but not too large doses should be applied.
What types of dressing are suitable for peppers after planting in a greenhouse?
Before feeding the peppers in the greenhouse, you need to prepare the soil for the roots in advance and apply spraying on the leaf.
• How to properly prepare the soil. In greenhouses, fertilization is worth starting in the autumn months.
For each square meter for digging, it is necessary to add half a bucket of compost, before planting seedlings, you must add:
• Potassium sulfate - 1 tsp. • Superphosphate - 1 tbsp. • Ash - 1 glass
• Overripe humus - half a bucket. The best solution would be to add mineral dressing, which is intended specifically for peppers. When purchasing such a top dressing, follow the instructions and dosages. After adding fertilizers, it is necessary not to dig the soil too deeply, water it with warm water, and cover it with a covering material. You will need to remove such material only before you plant the seedlings.
• Root dressing. for this it is worth choosing an organic fertilizer. To do this, you can take a bucket of mullein and dilute it with 3-4 buckets of warm water and let the resulting mixture brew well for 7 days. The first fertilizers can be applied 12-14 days after planting the seedlings in the greenhouse, when the first leaves appear. Under the bush, you need to add half a liter of the mixture. Then you can fertilize every 13-15 days, adding 1-2 liters of fertilizer.
In addition to organic fertilizers, you can also use mineral fertilizers.
To do this, you need to take a bucket of water and add to it:
• Superphosphate (40 g)
• Potassium sulfate (30 g)
• Ammonium nitrate (20 g)
The first feeding of peppers after planting in a greenhouse is carried out 12-14 days after planting the seedlings. You need to bring about half a liter of fertilizer under each pepper bush. The next feeding is carried out during fruit setting - 1-2 liters of fertilizer under the root of each bush (you are guided by the size of the bush). The third top dressing is carried out while picking fruits - 2 liters of fertilizer at the root of each bush.
• Foliar preparation of peppers in the greenhouse
We talked about the fact that microelements are well absorbed if they are introduced precisely in the form of foliar feeding. Foliar dressing is also called rapid fertilization. This is so, because if you notice any deviation in the state of the plant from the usual, then with the help of spraying, you can correct the situation and add those elements that do not reach the pepper. Foliar feeding of peppers in the greenhouse can be done every 14-15 days. if you can properly feed, then you can ensure a good and rich harvest of pepper even in a greenhouse.
