Peppers in the open field - how to feed properly, feeding stages
Content:
Sweet bell peppers are famous not only for their wonderful taste, but also for their usefulness. The growth and development process takes place in greenhouse conditions, greenhouses and on open ground. In order to obtain a high yield, it is necessary to feed the pepper with a large amount of organic and mineral fertilizers already during the period of growing seedlings. After planting seedlings for permanent residence, the peppers are also fed, because they need food. By feeding peppers growing in open soil, you will get tasty fruits, a rich harvest, and the plant will bear fruit for a very long time. Saplings, which have been given nutrients in the amount they need, develop strong immunity to diseases and enemies, they adapt better to bad weather conditions.
Pepper seedlings - feeding stages
Before planting the peppers for permanent residence, the seedlings are fed several times. The first time they feed at the age of 14 days (the fertilizer must contain nitrogen, for growth, to build up green mass; phosphorus is also needed for the early rooting of seedlings). A complex mixture, which contains the necessary nutrients, can be bought at a store for gardeners and farmers (Kemira-Lux is suitable for peppers, dosage: 1.5 tablespoons per 10 liters of water) or you can make it yourself.
The composition of the mixture: 7 grams of carbamide, add 30 grams of superphosphate to it, dissolve minerals in 10 liters of water. With this composition, you need to water the seedlings. For 14 days before the expected date of planting, feed the seedlings with phosphate and potassium for the rapid development of the root system of the seedling. Ready mix suitable for peppers - "Kristalon". But you can prepare fertilizer yourself at home. The composition of the mixture: potassium salt, 250 grams, add superphosphate to it, 70 grams, dissolve these minerals in 10 liters of water.
Strong seedlings with good health adapt perfectly to a new place in open soil, and will soon begin to produce the first peppers. The soil saturated with nutrients, well prepared in advance even before planting the seedlings, will help in this matter.
Planting pepper - fertilizer for the soil
The preparation of the place of residence for new seedlings occurs in advance in the fall or not long before the planting of zelents in the spring. Even if the soil is fertile, we still have to apply organic fertilizer.
Fertilizer options: manure, 3-4 kg / m2, peat, 8 kg / m2, or a mixture of dry grass with nitrogenous fertilizers. Potassium and phosphate fertilizers (superphosphate, potassium nitrate, potassium sulfate) are added before settling in the "lodgers". In such a well-fertilized "apartment", the peppers will be fine, the rooting of seedlings will occur as soon as possible, and growth will be active. After planting, you do not need to feed the peppers additionally for 14 days.
Peppers in the open field - root dressing
Peppers are always thanked for their growth, development, productivity for being fed with organic or mineral fertilizers. The first feeding is carried out after 14-21 days after planting. Subsequently, for the entire period of growth, they are fed two or three more times. Top dressing is carried out with various substances, since peppers need various kinds of trace elements. It depends on the period of development. At each stage, certain top dressing is carried out, characteristic of the period of plant development.
Organic fertilizers
Organics are very popular among gardeners because of their availability, economy of money, and high efficiency. Plants love organic matter. But nevertheless, at times they must be used as a base for the preparation of complex fertilizers, minerals are added to the complex mixture. A good "food" for peppers is mullein. It is used to build up green mass, the main focus is on the growth of leaves, at an early stage of development. The composition of the mixture: water is poured into the cow manure for feeding in a proportional ratio of 1: 5. Let it brew. Then you need to pour water to the solution in a proportional ratio of 1: 2. Then pour the peppers with this composition.
There is also a fertilizer with an increased amount of nitrogen - an infusion of chicken droppings: fresh droppings are dissolved in water in a proportional ratio of 1:20.
When the pepper blooms, you can apply organic-based dressings. This infusion is used: add a spoonful of wood ash or nitrophoska to a bucket of manure or droppings of low concentration. Thus, the peppers will receive nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium.
When the plants begin to actively bear fruit, we apply a complex of organic and mineral fertilizers. We prepare such a solution: 5 kilograms of cow dung, 250 grams of nitrophoska per 100 liters of water. We insist this mixture for at least 7 days, then add 1 liter of solution for each plant under the root method of feeding.
Organic matter is very important for mass gain and activation of seedling growth, therefore, as an independent separate fertilizer, we apply it during this period. When the plant blooms and bears fruit, we reduce the nitrogen, add more potassium and phosphorus. Important information - an excess of nitrogen promotes active growth and growth of green mass of plants, but excludes the formation of ovaries.
Mineral components
For ease of use, stores offer ready-made complex formulations containing minerals (BioMaster at the flowering stage, Agricola-Vegeta at the ripening stage, ammofoska is also used during the fruit formation period).
All ready-made mixtures contain nitrogen, potassium, phosphorus and other components. Identical fertilizers can be prepared by yourself at home. Thus, you will adjust the portioning of the composition and, in addition, this method is used as an economy option.
First feeding (period of active growth, before the plant blooms). You will need: urea, 10 grams, superphosphate, 5 grams, 10 liters of water (watering with 1 liter per plant by the root method).
Second complementary food (flowering stage, nutrient complex is used). We need: 10 liters of water, a small spoonful of potassium nitrate and superphosphate, 2 tablespoons of urea. The plants should be fed by the root method.
Third feeding (period of fruiting, abandon nitrogen-containing fertilizers). Required: a mixture of potassium salt and superphosphate, 1 tbsp. l / 10 liters of water.
Before adding minerals to the soil, we check its condition. Mineral fertilizers are applied four to five times per season in depleted soils; for medium fertile soils, it is acceptable to apply additional fertilizing two to three times.
Yeast.Yeast dressing is already very popular with farmers and gardeners. Bakery mushrooms contain a huge storehouse of nutrients and vitamins. They enhance the growth of seedlings. When the yeast begins to ferment, they transport oxygen to the soil and kick-start other microorganisms. Under the influence of yeast, peppers show rapid growth, good rooting, and ovaries are abundantly formed. Seedlings exhibit strong immunity to diseases, they become resistant to bad weather.
Yeast feeding occurs at different stages of growth, from the appearance of leaves on the seedlings until the moment when the vegetative process ends. The composition of the yeast mixture: yeast briquette 1 kilogram, 5 liters of warm water. At the stage when the yeast is actively fermented, dilute the composition with warm water. Use as root dressing.
There is another recipe for fertilizing peppers. You will need a bucket of warm water, 10 grams of dry yeast in granules, 5 tablespoons of sugar / jam. Add 0.5 liters of wood ash, bird droppings to the concentrate. Insist before use, then dilute with water in a proportional ratio of 1:10. During the entire growing season, feeding with yeast occurs no more than 3 times.
Infusion of nettle.Solution: nettle + minerals - the most valuable supplement for peppers growing in open soil. Recipe for complex feeding: grind the nettle, put it in a bucket / tank / barrel, fill it with water, leave it under load. The nettle will ferment soon, this will be seen by the foam that appears at the top of the container. After finishing wandering, the nettles will fall to the bottom. After that, we filter the solution and add ammophoska. You can water the peppers with nettle infusion every ten days without harm to the peppers, because this dressing was created specifically for them.
Open ground - foliar dressing
Used for emergency fertilization, pepper absorbs all nutrients through the leaf area and quickly synthesizes them. The beneficial effect is noticeable one day after feeding.
Foliar feeding is carried out in this way: you can water or spray the plants. Foliar dressing is done in order to prevent diseases or when there is a lack of any nutrients. Due to the slow growth of the pepper, the leaf turns yellow, the pepper itself withers - these are signs of nitrogen deficiency. If the plants do not bear fruit enough, this is a lack of potassium and phosphorus.
Solutions for foliar feeding:
Compensation for nitrogen deficiency - 1 spoon of urea / 10 liters of water; to increase the phosphorus content - 1 tsp. superphosphate / 5 liters of water; from dropping leaves - 1 tsp. boric acid / bucket of water. Boric solution saturates peppers with microelements, acts as a defender against ailments and enemies.
Spraying or watering is carried out in the evening or in the morning, while there are no direct rays of the sun, which can dry out the dressing, which has not yet had time to be absorbed into the leaves. It is better to carry out feeding in a calm time.
For young plants, we use weakly concentrated solutions, for adults, solutions of increased concentration.
