Feeding cucumbers with yeast in the greenhouse
Content:
There is probably not a single vegetable garden where cucumbers are not grown. After all, it is so nice to have these vegetables, which have long become traditional for our cuisine, on the table - fresh, salted, pickled. Naturally, every garden owner is interested in a bountiful harvest, but not everyone knows that what cucumbers love very much is yeast feeding.
Until recently, the main types of fertilizers were chemical and organic fertilizing. The need for organic food has sparked interest in natural remedies for increasing cucumber yields.
That is why the use of yeast in natural or dry form is becoming increasingly popular among gardeners. For watering cucumber plantings, bread sourdough is increasingly used. This article will focus on feeding cucumbers with yeast in the beds and in the greenhouse.
Fertilizing cucumbers: yeast feeding - instructions for making
A simple and effective way to fertilize cucumbers is with yeast feeding. This method of fertilizing cucumber beds is becoming more and more popular among domestic gardeners. It is suitable for all varieties and gives a quick positive result. The reason for this lies in the rich composition of yeast, which includes potassium, phosphorus, nitrogen.
All these elements contribute to improving the quality of the soil, therefore this type of fertilizer is recommended for greenhouse plantings. The preparation of the nutrient solution and its introduction into the soil requires adherence to certain rules.
So what is the algorithm for introducing yeast into the soil? First of all, you should know that the yeast needs warmth for its full effect. Introducing them into insufficiently heated soil will not bring the desired results.
Therefore, the earliest time for effective use of yeast is the second half of May. Yeast is easy to find in stores - it is sold compressed or dry. To prepare a yeast solution, you will need the following:
1. Dry yeast
Dissolve 10 g of yeast in 10 liters of warm water and add 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar. After thorough mixing, the resulting solution must be infused for 2 hours. The mixture is diluted with another 50 liters of water before use.
2. Compressed yeast
Take 1 kg of yeast for 5 liters of warm water, stir and infuse for 3-4 hours. Pour another 50 liters of water into the infusion. For the convenience of the procedure, a small barrel is suitable.
3. Bread leaven
To prepare the starter culture, you will need a 10-liter bucket 2/3 filled with bread crumbs (black bread is used) and filled to the brim with water. You need to put oppression on top and leave the container warm for a week. After the mixture has fermented, water should be poured into it (proportion 1: 3). 0.5 liter of starter culture is enough for watering 1 bush.
In a greenhouse, it is recommended to apply yeast fertilizers twice a month, the rate for the summer is 4-5 applications. This type of fertilizer goes well with other types of fertilizing. With their help, cucumbers grow quickly.
Yeast dressing for cucumbers: benefits
Yeast is suitable for feeding many garden and horticultural crops - tomatoes, peppers, berry and fruit plants. Yeast fertilizers can be applied already at the seedling stage.
To do this, you need to place the roots of the seedlings in a solution for a day, and then plant them in the ground. This procedure will protect the seedlings from fungal diseases and other diseases, will give an incentive to the formation of an extensive root system and a large amount of greenery.
Since the goal is still fruits, not greens, its growth can be halted. To do this, it is necessary to reduce the effect of nitrogen contained in the yeast - adding ash to the solution will help here.
It is best to use the ash left over after burning the wood of fruit crops. A glass of ash is enough for a small bucket of warm water. After its dissolution, the mixture is poured into the yeast top dressing.
When watering with a solution with the addition of ash, gas is released, which activates phosphorus and potassium. In addition to the elements already listed, yeast contains a large amount of vitamins, phytohormones, fruit growth stimulants. All this contributes to the rapid growth of vegetables.
Yeast dressing for cucumbers - recipe:
1. Dissolve 100 g of yeast in a briquette and half a glass of granulated sugar in 3 liters of warm water (a glass jar is suitable). The resulting mixture must be left warm, previously covered with gauze. It is recommended to shake the jar occasionally until the fermentation process stops. One glass of solution is enough for 10 liters of water. The consumption of the resulting top dressing is 1 liter per bush.
2. The same amount of yeast is added to 10 liters of water, after which the bucket can be left in the sun for 3 days. The solution must be mixed twice a day, on the 4th day it is ready. Consumption - 0.5 liters per bush.
3. 10-12 g of dry yeast and half a glass of granulated sugar should be dissolved in a three-liter jar of water, mixed and left for a week. After that, 1 glass of the fermented mixture is poured into 10 liters of water, and the addition of nettle infusion is also shown.
Conclusion
Regular fertilization is recommended for greenhouse plantings. Both organic and chemical dressings have a beneficial effect. Yeast solution and sourdough have also worked well as a fertilizer for cucumbers.
Their undoubted advantage is ease of preparation and versatility. All types of vegetable and fruit and berry crops, after the introduction of yeast feeding, add to their growth and give more yield.
It should be borne in mind that it makes sense to introduce yeast infusion only into well-heated soil. The recommended number of applications for cucumbers is 4-5 per season, from the second half of May.
Flower crops also respond to yeast fertilizers, this type of feeding is especially useful for roses, irises, gladioli, peonies, chrysanthemums. Along with bread sourdough, a sourdough based on hops or wheat has a good effect.
Yeast solutions go well with other types of fertilizers - herbal infusions, organic matter, chemical mixtures. Correct implementation of the recommendations for the introduction of yeast fertilizing guarantees an impressive result.
