Landscape designers love to use these roses in their work, as the many varieties that differ in color can create gorgeous, unique compositions in gardens. Their flowers are from white to purple, yellow and orange are not often found, as well as flowers with mixed colors. One hundred or more petals, shaped like a bowl, can be smooth, or they can be velvety. Very often the varieties of these roses emit an intense and pleasant scent that can fill your garden.
Park roses: description of plants
Park roses are distinguished by the fact that they bloom earlier than others, as a rule, this is the beginning of June, and bloom for more than one month. The height of the bushes depends on the variety, but not more than 1.5 meters. The plant is considered the most resistant to winter frost among all types of roses.
Interestingly, at the moment, plant breeders have obtained varieties of this type of rose, which can bloom twice in one season.
Park rose bushes grow voluminous and lush. Their strong scent attracts butterflies and other insects that are engaged in pollination of this beautiful plant.
Flowers of this species are outwardly similar to a tea rose. They belong to the wild rose genus, prefer to grow in open, sunny areas and do not require much attention. However, the tea rose is inferior in resistance to frost and the need to cut them at least three times during the year. The park rose can be grown even in areas with particularly harsh climatic conditions.
Due to their height, the bushes are often grown as hedges. It is perfect for this because of its density. The tea rose is not suitable for this because of its height, but it should be noted that their range of colors is much wider.

Park roses: planting and care
Park roses are the most unpretentious plant. Caring for them does not take much time and effort. This is probably why they are so valuable among flower growers.
It is best to choose seedlings for planting that are at least one year old and that they have a closed root system. Before planting them in the garden, carefully check the roots, it is very important that they do not have rot. Prepare wells in advance, the distance between which is not less than 70 centimeters. A flower needs a place to develop a lush bush.
The best option for planting roses would be a space open to light and sun, which is protected from drafts and strong winds. Pay attention that there are no plants with a strong aroma nearby, as it can interfere with enjoying the fragrance of your bush. You should also not plant near trees, so as not to shade the flowers and not to deprive them of moisture.
It is important to know that high humidity is very dangerous for these varieties. Therefore, planting your plant in swampy areas or where moisture stagnation is likely during the rainy season, you risk losing it.
Park rose varieties prefer well-drained, loose soil. If there is clay soil on your site, you will need to mix it with river sand. Sandy soils are also not suitable for these plants, they must be mixed with compost. The quality of the soil is very important to the plant, so pay special attention to it.
Park roses can be planted in spring and autumn. If you prefer the second option, then you will need to take care of the shelter to protect the young seedlings and their root system from frost. It is necessary to cover the plants during the first few years. Roses of these varieties are very popular with flower growers, not only for their delightful appearance and excellent aroma, but also for the fact that they do not need special care. For example, they do not need feeding in the first year, which cannot be said about other varieties. Apply fertilizers for but start in the second year in the spring. Organic fertilizers such as cow dung work well for this.
Like most other plants, rose bushes need to be loosened regularly. This opens up oxygen access to the roots, which is very important for good development. Before the onset of winter frosts, the bushes must be healed by raising the ground by 20 centimeters. This method will help protect the plants from frost.
Park roses do not need frequent watering. Watering plants often and little by little, we only harm the roots. Because of this method, the roots cannot develop and deepen well, but grow near the surface of the earth, which contributes to their damage during care and freezing during severe frosts. They need to be watered abundantly, but not more often than once every one and a half weeks. One bush is watered with 5 liters of water. This method of watering helps to harden the roots that seek moisture while deep underground. This also contributes to their frost resistance.
It takes knowledge to form lush bushes. Just like that, without our help, they will not grow wider. For this, at the initial stage of their development, it is necessary to use growth stimulants. Most often, sodium humates are used by gardeners.
You can shape the bush into the shape you want using pruning. Pruning of plants occurs only at a young age of strongly overgrown shoots. This should be done in the month of October, cutting them by 5 centimeters. Instead of pruning, you can simply pinch the plant. If there are a lot of overgrown shoots, you can remove them, while leaving strong ones.
Reproduction
The most popular propagation method is cuttings. It allows you to grow flowers the same as the mother's.
The stalk can be planted in the ground without even cutting it off from the parent bush. Just bend a branch with a leaf to the ground and sprinkle it with earth. To keep the twig inside, you need to put a small weight on top. In the future, we will need our cutting to be regularly watered and sprinkled with earth. After a year, the branch is cut off and the seedling that has already sprouted can be transplanted into a permanent place of residence.
There is another very interesting way that growers do not pass by, this is cutting cuttings. You can cut them in the summer and plant them in pre-moistened soil, covering them with a plastic bottle. Please note that such seedlings are not watered, but only sprayed with a spray bottle. A year later, the seedlings are replanted.
Diseases and pests
Park roses are considered resistant to many diseases and insects. However, they also have diseases and insect attacks.
1. Powdery mildew is the most common fungal disease you may encounter. It can be identified by a gray bloom on the leaves, and sometimes on the entire plant. This disease causes the leaves to dry out and fall off. In order to prevent the plant from dying, it must be sprayed with copper sulfate or washed with soapy water. You can wipe the leaves with soapy water as much as you like, since it is absolutely safe for plants and humans.
2. Rust is a harmful fungal disease that forms bumps on the leaves and stems of plants. This disease usually appears in the spring and in order to detect it in time, the leaves must be examined on the inner surface. If you notice bubbles, then your bush has the first signs of the disease. In order to prevent the disease from spreading, it is necessary to remove the damaged areas as soon as possible and burn them. Next, the rose is treated with Bordeaux liquid. Alternatively, you can use nettle infusions or soapy water.
3. Black spot is a fungal disease that is identified by the dark brown spots and yellow edges on the leaves. The affected areas are removed and burned to prevent infection from entering the ground. After that, the plant must be treated with a foundation.
4. Gray rot is another fungal disease that affects the leaves and stems of the bush.It can be identified by a gray coating and fringes on them. In addition to these signs, small ulcers may appear on the plant, the leaves turn yellow and fall off. This disease can only be dealt with by doing prevention. For this, a solution with potassium permanganate is used.
5. Pests. These include beetles of any color, ticks, butterflies and aphids. These insects destroy bushes and require a quick response. When the rose is attacked by them, you will be able to notice it almost immediately. In this case, you need to collect all the leaves affected by them, insects and treat the bushes with a special solution purchased from a specialized store.
If you want to decorate your garden with plants that will fill it with an excellent look and scent, for which you do not need to look after and spend a lot of time on this. Choose park roses.
