In this article, you will learn about one of the varieties of a large family of orchids - about Celogin. This includes over 120 species of orchids. In the wild, cellogyne is found in tropical Southeast Asian forests, on the oceanic islands of the Pacific and Indian oceans. Basically, the Celogin's orchid is an epiphyte, that is, a plant that attaches itself to another plant (forophyte) and receives nutrients from it. But it also happens to be a lithophyte, that is, it is capable, thanks to its root system, to grow on stones and rocks.

About illumination
Celogin, despite the season, needs bright lighting. The best place for its location is the east or west window. On the northern window, she will not have enough lighting, and on the southern window, she cannot do without shading from the direct sun, since Tselogin can simply die from it.
It should be borne in mind that with a daylight of less than 12-14 hours, regardless of the season, the plant will need additional light.
About temperature conditions
Each type of orchid has its own dependence on the temperature regime. For the warm season, these values are 20-25 ° С. For winter, the temperature in the room should be at least 10 degrees, and for a cold-loving crested cellogyne that needs cool conditions, these values can be even lower - up to + 5 ° C.
About the dormant period
Speaking about the dormant period for cellogyne, it should be noted that everything depends on the type of plant. For example: beautiful cellogyne does not have a dormant period, it can bloom both in summer and in winter; fringed cellogyne, also, without a dormant period, can bloom strictly in due time. Unlike the aforementioned species, crested cellogyne has a dormant period of about 20 days at the end of spring. At this time, the root system of her stops growing, and the pseudobulbs become very wrinkled.

About proper watering
Water the Celogin orchid by immersing the pot container in a bowl of water. After a couple of minutes, they take out a container with a flower, this time is enough for the roots to be fed and moistened. Water for these purposes must be soft, filtered or boiled. When the dormant period comes, watering is reduced - water only when the substrate mixture is completely dry.
About air humidity
For good growth of the Celogine orchid, you cannot do without high air humidity. All means are good here: from spraying foliage from a spray bottle in the morning and in the evening to placing expanded clay in a pan, where a little water is poured.
Which potting mix is best to use
It is best to use a commercial orchid potting mix. It is usually fine-grained and contains decomposed leaf compost and small pieces of pine bark. The ratio of pine bark to the rest of the mixture is 1: 1.
Some types of orchids, for example, fringed cellogyne, have long roots. It is recommended to grow it using pine blocks. The roots are fixed on a block of pine bark with wire and covered with sphagnum. This growing method requires more frequent watering and spraying.
About the features of the transplant
Transplanting cellogyne is carried out only when there is an urgent need for it, for example, if the pot container has become too cramped.
Remember to weight the pot with, for example, a piece of granite or pebbles if your flower is large. Thus, you are not in danger of overturning.
About dressings and fertilizers
The Celoginu orchid is fed weekly during its active life. You will also need a little extra foliar dressing. It is recommended to buy them in special markets. The blooming orchid Celogin is fed a little less often - monthly.

Most often, this genus is propagated in the simplest way - by the method of division. An adult plant with several mature pseudobulbs is taken. Each section should have several pseudobulbs, which can be both young and old, but always with developed roots.
About pests and diseases
The most common thing that can happen to the Celogin's orchid is an attack by a spider mite, aphids, whiteflies. Once you find this, rinse the foliage thoroughly with warm water. Also fungal diseases are not uncommon. Start treating the plant with a fungicide as early as possible, and the cure will come soon enough.
