Rope supports as plant supports
Quite simple plant supports, suitable for climbing plants. You can make it yourself from twine or rope. Such a support is located near houses, gazebos and other structures. It is very simple to make, but it has some disadvantages:
-The twine support has an unaesthetic appearance;
-It does not differ in strength, so it can break off under the weight of greenery;
-It is short-lived, as a rule, it has to be changed every year.
To make such a support, a nail or an anchor bolt is driven into the wall and twine is tied to it. The lower part of the twine is tied to the plants.
Arch as a support for plants
Arcs made of plastic or metal are used not only to cover plants with foil. They can serve as a support. You won't be able to make them yourself, so it's better to buy ready-made ones in the store. But for all plants, such a support will not work. You can tie low tomatoes, young grapes or flowers to them.
Support in the form of a flower bed
If you braid a flower bed with willow twigs, you get a giant basket. Its handle will support curly flowers or other crops. If the flowerbed is varnished, then it will perfectly endure the winter. But to protect it from moisture, it is better to cover it with a special material.
Bush holders as plant supports
Self-support for plants can be made from blocks of wood, metal or plastic pipes. For example, a 30x30 mm wooden bar is used for a bush holder. It is cut into pieces of the same length and fastened together with self-tapping screws so that a square is obtained. Legs are attached to its corners. The structure itself is treated with street paint or special impregnation. Having collected the branches of the plant, a ready-made support is installed, and then the bush is distributed.
Pergolas
Initially, the pergola was used as a support for grapes. But now it has more decorative character. More often, the pergola is made in the form of an open veranda, which is attached to the house. It is very easy to make it. For this, a frame is made from a bar and the necessary walls are covered with screens. Grapes or a climbing rose are planted at the supports. It is better to choose those plants that calmly endure the winter. A few years later, such a structure will become an excellent decoration of the site.
Natural supports
A natural element can also serve as a support for a climbing culture. In this capacity, for example, a tree or a large stone is used. Quite often, you can find such supports in natural conditions, when grapes or loaches twine around a tree or stone.
Lattices as supports for plants
Wooden or metal gratings are also used as support. With their help, they zone the space, create cozy corners or cover up unattractive buildings on the site.
It is not difficult to make such supports yourself. Thin planks or metal rods are fixed to the support, crossing them together. Then the prepared structure is dug into the ground or attached to the wall. You can replace the grill with a plastic or metal mesh.
