Not worse than Cuban. All the secrets of growing tobacco in the garden
Content:
Tobacco reaches a height of 1-15 m. The branched root system penetrates into the soil to a depth of 2 m. The stem of the plant is straight and rounded, the leaves are oval, whole, the inflorescences are collected in a panicle, and the fruit is a multi-seeded capsule with small brownish-brown seeds.
Tobacco: conditions for growing
For tobacco, a mild climate is required, at least 120 days of frost-free period, since the culture has a large vegetation process. The southern part of Russia is perfect. Tobacco grows well in soils with the addition of compost and poultry droppings.
Planting a plant
Tobacco seeds are sown in late February - early March. It is necessary to prepare loose and light soil in the fall. The earth is poured into the box and tamped, watered abundantly and the seeds with humus are laid, having sifted finely beforehand. Then sprinkle with slightly moist soil (2-3 ml layer, 0.5 g of seeds per 1 sq. M). The box is placed in a dark place and covered with foil. After 7-14 days, the first shoots appear, while they are not watered. On the 15th day, you need to remove the film and put the box closer to the window. Watering is carried out by spraying. Fortified (2-3 true leaves) seedlings must be cut into separate pots. Seedlings must be pinched. Suitable temperature is 18-20 degrees.
Planting in open ground
Watering is reduced in about a week, and watering stops after 2-3 days. The plant is ready for planting when there are 4-6 true leaves on it, as well as when there is no threat of recurrent frosts. The seedlings are buried in the soil to the level of the third leaf, having cut them off in advance. Additional roots are formed in this place.
Plant care and feeding
Tobacco loves water very much, if it is not watered during the dry season, the growth of the plant is delayed, becomes too strong, loses its aroma and other properties. Top dressing is carried out with complex fertilizers immediately after planting in the ground, and then with an interval of two weeks. It is necessary to treat the plant from downy mildew, especially in frequent rainy weather.
Tobacco and ripening conditions
Sign of mature tobacco, slight yellowing of the leaves. The lower tier of the plant (first breaking) ripens 45 days after planting. Leaves are cut gradually, starting from 3-4 sheets and ending with 5-6. Leaves that are closer to the top have the best qualities. Harvesting is done in the morning or evening, when the plant has the least amount of water.
Tobacco and storage
The leaves are hung on a string so that they do not touch each other. Dried in two phases: languishing and drying. The temperature for simmering is 25-35 degrees, humidity is not more than 90%, you can hang out in the sun (4-5 hours). When the leaf turns yellow, this is a clear sign of the end of languor. Fixation (sun drying) lasts 8-20 days.
Tobacco use
Tobacco is used to protect plants from onion fly larvae. The leaves are crushed into tobacco dust, during the laying period, the beds are sprinkled with mixed dust in half with lime. The infusion of leaves is also used against aphids and spider mites. The plants are sprayed with a solution with the addition of soap.
