Mycorrhiza and its interaction with bacteria
Content:
All conifers in your area have mycorrhiza on the roots - a useful cohabitation of fungi and roots in plants that promotes better absorption of nutrients and water. The roots of conifers cannot absorb nutrients with the help of root hairs; many plants simply do not have them. Therefore, they are forced to enter into symbiosis, a specific interaction with fungi, which is called mycorrhiza.
What is mycorrhiza plant for?
About 80% of flowering plants also have mycorrhiza. But for flowering and herbaceous plants that grow on the site, tomatoes, cucumbers, annuals, perennials, annuals, for them the value of mycorrhizal lives on the roots is much less. Mycorrhiza is very important for trees and shrubs, in which thick main roots are engaged in keeping the plant in the soil, and they lack small roots that are responsible for the absorption of minerals, so they are forced to enter into symbiosis with fungi and form mycorrhiza.
If we take such a popular garden plant as onion, then the amount of mycorrhiza on its roots is no more than 2% of the mass of the roots themselves.
Why is it important to know about mycorrhiza?
The fact is that when we prepare the soil, when we ignite and disinfect it, we simultaneously destroy mycorrhizal fungi.
Many people ask the question - is it necessary to add additional preparations that contain mycorrhizal fungi? Mycorrhiza itself is quite expensive for the plant - the plants feed the mycorrhizal fungi, releasing glucose, other sugars and other substances that this fungus needs, so this interaction is formed in them.
The main function of mycorrhiza is to provide the plant with sufficient moisture and especially phosphates. Phosphates in the soil are in a difficult-to-reach form, and fungi are able to dissolve them.
If you keep your plants in ideal conditions, provide them with mineral nutrition in full, in this case there is practically no need for mycorrhiza in garden plants. Therefore, they do not need to be worked out specifically in order for mycorrhiza to start.
Use of special drugs
Even if you calcined the soil, even if you disinfected the soil and even if you killed most of the microorganisms, you will still plant your plants in a greenhouse, in a vegetable garden, where there are a huge amount of these mycorrhizal fungi, your plant in any case, the roots of this mycorrhiza will be found.
If there is not enough mineral nutrition, if you do not have the opportunity to buy phosphorus fertilizers, or you doubt whether the plants have enough phosphorus fertilizers, then it will be useful to add a small amount of reliable soil in which the plants did not hurt to the disinfected soil in order to bring in a sufficient amount. mycorrhizal fungi, or use standard mycorrhizal drugs that are sold in stores. But in fact, there is no great need for this.
Many are afraid to use biological remedies such as Trichodermin or Fitosparin, due to the fact that these drugs kill mycorrhiza. This is actually the case.
An experiment was carried out on the fungus Fusarium sambucinum, this is one of the non-pathogenic fungi that forms a strong mycorrhiza in many plants, in particular in wheat, and sowed the living origin of bacilli, which are part of microbiological preparations. The growth zone of the fungus has ceased to develop. But this is not scary, because the value of bacteria, in the case of sufficient mineral nutrition of plants, will be higher than the value of the mycorrhizal fungus.
