Pest control methods

Pest control - birds
In order to scare birds away from ripening fruits, you need to clearly know what they are afraid of and what they are not. Many believe that a garden scarecrow can scare feathered guests, I can say with confidence that this opinion is wrong. Bird pest control is a little trickier.
Do not scare birds with a scarecrow. The birds have become very arrogant and intelligent. Therefore, in order for a stuffed animal to become an effective method of scaring away birds, it needs to be "revived".
Scarecrow sleeves can be stitched with old dividend discs or black garbage bags. All these decorations will sparkle and make noise, which will help scare away annoying birds. If this method is not effective, then you will have to work hard and cover the crop with a net.
Each of them I drive small pegs along the edges of the beds with strawberries and strawberries. And on them I stretch the net, the net helps to save the harvest, and after harvesting it is very easy to remove.
Fighting the leaf roll.
The most dangerous enemy for grapes is the leaf roll. The leafworm is a small butterfly, its wingspan is no more than a centimeter, its caterpillars are also small in size, about 2 centimeters in length.
This insect lays its larvae in rotten leaves and bark of grapes. The larvae hibernate in the cocoon stage, in spring a butterfly emerges from this cocoon and again lays the larvae.
Caterpillars emerging from the eggs immediately begin to damage the grapes. They entangle the inflorescences with cobwebs and eat out the ovaries. On average, a caterpillar destroys about 30 flowers in one day. And during the ripening period, it can eat ten berries a day.
In order not to lower the invasion of leaf rollers on your vineyard, at the end of April or at the beginning of May, the grapes must be treated with insecticides. They are now in great abundance in shops or markets.
We bring out the Colorado potato beetle.
For those who like to grow potatoes on their site, the most terrible enemy is the Colorado potato beetle. There are a lot of chemicals to destroy this pest, but if you exceed the dose, you will get some of the chemicals yourself.
But there are also chemicals that can be used safely. When the potatoes have already been planted, take a couple of tubers into several parts and dip them in chlorophos solution for a day.
Then in the evening I lay out the parts of the potatoes on pieces of paper, since the tops have not yet grown, the beetle hungry during hibernation attacks the poisoned potatoes. I just collect the dead beetle from the paper, after harvesting, I always repeat this procedure.
Sometimes I put jars grated with potato juice around the site, and after 5-6 hours I collect jars filled with a pest. Although these methods do not help the window to eradicate the potato lover, they allow you to regulate the number of beetles and leave the harvest environmentally friendly.
Pest and fungus control
In warm beds, zucchini, cucumbers, pumpkin and squash usually feel very good. A very thick layer of organic fertilizer is usually placed on such beds. Organics are an excellent source of warmth and nutrition for delicate roots.
The decomposition of organic matter promotes the development of microorganisms, which usually do not harm plants. But sometimes pathogenic fungi begin to develop on warm beds, but they are very dangerous for immature plants.
When a fungus appears, the soil becomes covered with a white bloom, if the ground is very strongly infected, the white bloom becomes fluffy and white hairs stretch from it. The soil needs to be urgently treated, otherwise the plantings will not be good.
For the prevention of fungus, only "healthy" organic matter should be laid on the garden bed, without visible signs of white bloom and mold. The organic layer should be quite thick 20-25 cm, this will allow the soil to be heated very strongly and fungi that do not tolerate high temperatures will die.
To consolidate the effect, after placing the manure, pour hot water over the bed. If the fungus appears on the surface of the soil, it must be immediately sprinkled with ash and a few times to water the soil with a weak solution of potassium permanganate.
In good weather, a warm bed must be opened and well ventilated, it is very good if direct sunlight falls on the bed.
