Terry tulips: history of origin
At the moment, there are more than five and a half thousand varietal varieties around the world. Terry tulips are not as famous as the rest of their cousins, the number of copies is approximately equal to ten percent of the total. But they have been known for a long time. The very first double tulip hybrid, which turned a part near a flowering area into an added petal circle, appeared naturally. Experienced breeders collect only the most interesting varieties that have turned out due to accidental cross-pollination. This is how in the twenties of the seventeenth century tulips were introduced in Holland under the name Duke Van Toll. They were not a very tall plant, no more than fifteen to twenty centimeters.
It is believed that it was from this variety that further varieties of double tulips originated. Further terry varieties appeared after the fifties of the seventeenth century. There were very few such varieties, and this was their value. But over time, artificial crossing appeared and they ceased to be such a rarity. The most recent ancestor of double tulips is the Murillo variety. This variety has boiling white flowers. This variety is more than two hundred years old. However, already in the nineteenth century, double tulips began to be recognized as hybrid varieties.

Terry tulips: care for the view
Growing rules are the same for almost all varieties. But terry tulips have their own nuances in growing.
- The first nuance. Simple tulips may not be dug up for two or three years, but terry tulips will not tolerate this. They need a transplant every twelve months, that is, annually. The transplant should be carried out to a new location. This will protect them from a variety of diseases. In order not to be confused with varieties, you can plant them in individual containers.
- Second nuance. If you are cutting plants, then you must make sure that leaf plates remain on the bush. This will be the main guarantee for the formation of a healthy, strong bulb by the next flowering season.
- The third nuance. It is necessary to carry out decapitation, that is, breaking off the heads of the bulbs. This should be done only in plants that have already faded. This will provide you with healthy and strong bulbs.
- Fourth nuance. All plants that have weakened, become limp, or have changed their color - must be removed without waiting for all the tubers to be excavated. Since diseases can be transmitted to neighboring crops.
- Fifth nuance. For plants to feel comfortable and bloom profusely, they need to provide a warm and sunny spot in your garden.
- Sixth nuance. Top dressing and fertilization are very important for these plants. It is necessary to carry out only three mandatory feeding: 1) The first feeding is done at the beginning of the spring period. In the composition of the selected fertilizer, nitrogenous elements should lead; 2) The second feeding is carried out at a time when the plants begin to form buds. In the composition of the selected top dressing, potash and phosphorite elements should be in the lead; 3) The third feeding is carried out after the plant has already bloomed. In this case, you can use universal mineral complex fertilizers for flowering crops.
