One of the favorites of Moscow region gardeners is the famous pear variety Large-fruited Susova, also called "Autumn". This variety is characterized by the presence of qualities that make it an ideal option for growing in central Russia. The history of the pear variety Large-fruited Susova begins from the moment of its selection by the famous scientist-breeder V.I.Susov. It happened in 1995 in the village of Gorodnya near Moscow, since that time the new variety began to gain popularity among gardeners of the Central region. There is no information about how this variety of pears appeared. To date, the pear variety Large-fruited Susova is grown in the Moscow region, and is also experimentally cultivated south of the Moscow region, including in the Central Black Earth region.

For trees of the pear variety Large-fruited Susova, medium growth and the presence of a crown in the form of a ball of medium thickening are characteristic. Shoots, as a rule, are strong, of great thickness, painted in a greenish-yellow tint, the internodes are shortened.

In the fruiting phase of "Large-fruited Susov", large, apple-like fruits with an average weight of about 200 g are formed, located on a thick and short stalk. The funnel and saucer of the fruit are also distinguished by their compact dimensions. The dense pulp is characterized by a large amount of juice, aroma and white color. Flavoring bouquet with sweet and sour notes is estimated from 4 to 4.5 points.
"Large-fruited Susova" refers to mid-ripening varieties of pears, while it bears fruit regularly while maintaining high harvest volumes. This late autumn variety is safely stored in a cool room with an air temperature of about +5 degrees until the beginning of winter.

In addition to the already mentioned external and taste qualities of the fruits, their ability to be stored for a long time, as well as high yield, the large-fruited Susova pear variety has a number of other advantages. These include the winter hardiness of trees, which exceeds the indicators that are considered the norm for the Moscow region. Also, this variety is immune to scab, which does not often affect the Large-fruited Susova pear, even during extensive infestations of fruit trees. The gall mite also rarely infects trees of this variety in comparison with other pear varieties released for the Central Region.
