Many people give each other flowers for all sorts of holidays, or even for no reason. Of course, the most popular flowers for this purpose are red roses. This unshakable classic that has evolved over decades.
Characteristic of red roses
The garden red rose is usually found in Babylon and Syria. From these lands, this culture was brought to the territory of India, Rome, China, Greece. At the moment, the red rose is very popular all over the world. The red rose in different eras symbolized different things. At one time it was courage, at another time a red rose meant passion and love.
Not one group has been singled out, which, according to one or another characteristic, unites roses. Roses are miniature, tea, shrub, park, ground cover. Basically, when defining a particular variety in any group, gardeners are guided by certain indicators: the size and shape of the shrub, what structure the leaves have, the appearance of the flowers themselves, as well as how long and abundantly the variety blooms.
As we said above, the red rose symbolizes love, passion and warm feelings. If you give red roses during business events, then in this way you congratulate on the success achieved in business. An interesting fact is that in our country it is not customary to collect a bouquet of an even number of flowers, while in most other countries the opposite is true.
The rose is a deciduous shrub that lacks a central stem. The dwarf variety is quite miniature in its height, only ten to twelve centimeters, but there are varieties up to two meters in height. As for the liana-like varieties of the rose, they can grow up to ten meters. Shoots are very well able to recover, the stems are annual.
The surface of the leaves can be either glossy or matte. Foliage is complex in structure. The color can be either light green or dark. Roses have a developed root system, which is a stem with branches on the sides. And from these branches thin roots grow in different directions.
After the stems are sufficiently developed, flower ovaries begin to appear. If every year more and more new shoots appear, then the plant is developing well. If there are a lot of shoots, it means that the rose will be able to form buds in larger quantities.

How to properly grow a red rose
Red roses are quite demanding on the temperature regime, they love warmth. Therefore, the area where you plan to grow red roses should be in a sunny place. There must also be protection from the winds. The water table should not be too close to your plantings. Loam is best for red roses, which will contain a sufficient amount of organic matter.
Red roses are usually planted in an open area in spring or autumn. The landing hole in its size should reach sixty centimeters. A good drainage layer must be laid at the bottom. For this, expanded clay or small pebbles are well suited.
Before planting red roses, trim the roots a little. Be sure to save the small roots! The stems also need to be shortened to ten to fifteen centimeters. Each branch must have a kidney. Remove loose stems.
When planting, it is necessary to maintain a distance of half a meter to one and a half meters between plants. It all depends on the selected rose variety.
When planting the rhizomes, the plants should not dry out. To prevent this from happening, dip the root system in cow dung and clay. Mix in a ratio of one to two.
Breeding rules for red roses
There is more than one way red roses can be propagated.
Cuttings.
To do this, you need to cut off the shoot, which will have several buds. The stem should be at least half lignified, and preferably completely. Then soak the lower part of the shoot in a growth stimulator for one day. After that, you can plant it. It is necessary to create greenhouse conditions for your seedlings by covering them with plastic. Over time, your cuttings will begin to form a root system, and next year it will be possible to transplant your young plant to its permanent habitat.
With the help of layering.
This method is especially suitable for breeding roses that do not have short stems. Prepare the hole in advance, it should not be very deep. It is necessary to lay a shoot bent to the ground in it. Secure it with wire and cover it with earth. In the next season, it will already be possible to cut off the cuttings from the main shrub and plant in the required area.
Proper care of red roses
In order for the plant to develop well, and the flowering to be abundant, it is necessary to follow the correct agricultural techniques for growing red roses. Planting needs to be watered on a regular basis. Also, an important stage is loosening the soil. Do not forget to remove weeds from the site in time. And to keep the moisture longer, experienced gardeners recommend mulching the area next to the plants with sawdust or peat.
When the buds have already faded, be sure to remove them. This way the plant will not expend energy to form fruits.
How to fight diseases and pests of red roses
As a rule, most often roses are affected by diseases of fungal origin. Usually this is associated with non-compliance with the rules of agricultural technology. For example, the plants were planted too close to each other, or the soil or stems were too wet for a long time. If you find signs of a fungal disease, you need to immediately take the necessary measures and carry out the treatment.
Insects can also harm your flowers. You should especially be wary of the attacks of the rose sawfly, aphids, spider mites and the clicker beetle. If you find these representatives on the bushes, treat with special preparations. Usually acaricides and insecticides are used for this.
If you follow the necessary boarding rules and leaving behind a red rose, the result will surely not keep you waiting. Plants will delight you with their beautiful flowers. And with so many different varieties, choosing the perfect rose for yourself is a sheer pleasure!
