Briefly about clematis for the Urals.
Multi-colored, beautiful clematis grow well in Chelyabinsk and Krasnoyarsk. All you need to grow this plant is to find the right variety that will grow in your area. Liana itself is not whimsical, but in the fall it needs a little care to prepare it for winter. As for the cultivation of this plant in the Urals, then there are some nuances, but there is absolutely nothing complicated, and absolutely anyone, even an inexperienced gardener, can handle it.
How to choose the right plant.
Thanks to breeders, every year we have more and more different varieties. At the moment, there are about 2,000 different varieties of clematis, but experts do not stop there. Because of this, even growing this plant in the Urals will not be difficult at all. But it is best to choose hybrid varieties for this. Such species as: Vititsella, Integrifolia, Zhakmana are considered very hardy, but their shoots must be cut off so that they are shorter. Shoots can be cut completely or in half. For all hybrid varieties, proper care and proper planting must be carried out: it is advisable to plant such plants in such a corner where there is no wind and drafts. The soil should not be very loose, you need to fertilize the plants regularly, you also need to install a support for the plants, they need to be very well insulated for the winter.
Viticell's view.
As for such a species as Vititsella, all of its varieties are quite frost-resistant. They endure frosts down to -27 degrees. These vines grow up to 3.5 meters in length and have rather complex leaves. They begin to bloom in the second half of summer and continue until the very first frost. Their flowers are quite large, they grow up to 12 cm in diameter. Their colors are always very bright, which looks very beautiful. All vines of this species are practically not susceptible to various diseases. One of the most popular varieties of this species is the French Ville de Lyon. Such vines easily grow up to 4 meters. Her flowers grow up to 20 cm in diameter, and all this is due to the fact that her root system is very powerful.
Her colors can be completely different and very beautiful. Mostly they are predominantly dark. Liana is an ornamental plant, it must be cut off for the winter, the process is left no more than 30 cm or cut off completely.

.
There is also a view Flamulathat came to us from Japan. Varieties such as Sweet autumn or Terniflora for a very long time and grow well in the Urals. In simple language, this vine is called "Fluffy Cloud". She just has a huge number of small, beautiful flowers that grow in a maximum diameter of 4 cm, but the aroma of these flowers spreads throughout the entire district. It begins to bloom late, at the end of August, but until the very frosts. This vine easily grows up to 3 meters and definitely needs support. This species calmly withstands frosts down to -34 degrees. It is not at all necessary to cut the lashes for the winter, but they need to be covered. The Sweet autumn variety of clematis is perfect for masking a fence or wall.
Together with clematis, you can plant other climbing plants, for example: Kampsis, Amur or girlish grapes, or any annual vines. Also, next to the vines, various roses will feel great. You can plant them as you like, and make absolutely any composition.
How to propagate clematis.
It will not be difficult to propagate various varieties in the Urals; to root the liana, you just need to take it a distance from the bush itself in order to simply root it. Ilu, however, just cut the cuttings, and you can also divide the bush.
It is also very easy and simple to breed clematis using layering. To do this, in the spring, the will of the bush needs to dig a groove with a depth of no more than 15 cm. The shoot must be laid in it, and its top must be left on the surface of the earth. The cut must be covered with earth and watered regularly, then the cut will sprout very quickly. Next year, in the spring, the plants can already be transplanted to a permanent place.
It will also be possible to carry out reproduction using cuttings. To do this, you need to choose a healthy and strong shoot. Cut the cuttings about 10-20 cm long, so that each has at least two leaves. Half of the leaves should be cut off, and in order for them to root better, it is best to use root growth stimulants before planting. And how to do this correctly is indicated in the instructions that are attached to the drug. After you rinse the cuttings from the stimulant under running water, the cuttings should be planted in peat or sand and watered periodically. Cuttings from above must be tightly covered, thus creating a kind of greenhouse. Rooting of cuttings takes about a month. After that, after two weeks, they can be transplanted into fertile soil. And it will be possible to transplant seedlings to a permanent place next year.
Growing rules and care.
In the Urals, the best period for planting clematis is spring. Over the summer, the seedling will have time to take root well and get stronger before the harsh winter period.
If you received a seedling ahead of time, then before planting it must be properly preserved: initially, the seedling must be dug in your garden, where it will remain until spring.
If the seedling has a closed root system and acquired it in the summer, then it must be stored until autumn in a dark and cool place.
If the seedling was purchased in the spring, and its root system is open, then before planting it must be soaked in a root growth stimulator. Your vine will be able to take root well in a new place only if its root system is properly developed.
Before planting a plant, you first need to choose the right place.
The distance between the vines should be at least 1 meter. If you plant a plant in a lowland where water stagnates, then initially you need to make a hillock there, and only then dig a hole for planting at least half a meter deep.
If the land on your site is acidic enough, then the pit for planting must be prepared in advance. And I need to mix the earth with it with 100 grams of ordinary dry lime. Clay soil must be mixed with sand.
There must be drainage at the bottom of the pit. And the earth should be mixed with humus in a 1: 1 ratio, it is also best to add superphosphate or minerals to the pit.
The seedling must be placed in the center of the pit, spread the roots and carefully cover it with earth. After planting, the vine must be watered only with warm water. This is simply necessary so that an already weak plant does not start to rot.
In general, the vine is not a whimsical plant, but it still needs proper care. Its root system is very developed, in depth it can grow up to one meter. That is why it needs to be watered very well, for this you will need at least three large buckets of warm water. But watering should be no more than once a week, otherwise the roots may begin to rot. Absolutely all varieties of clematis need to be watered not strictly in the center, but nearby, in a ditch made during planting. If dry weather has come, then watering is increased up to twice a week. But if it is time for the rains, then the lower part of the vine must be sprinkled with a clean woody hall, this will help protect it from rot. Before starting to insulate the plant for the winter, the root collar must be treated with copper sulfate, and then spud with sand mixed with wood ash. It is also necessary to lay a litter of leaves or sawdust under the shoots. Cover it from above with the same.
After winter clematis open gradually, after which the shoots must be cut off. This is done to prevent fungus.
Liana must be fertilized. This is done in early spring after removing the shelter and pruning, in the summer, and in the fall before warming for the winter.
A very simple care is carried out for the vine, which absolutely everyone can do. If everything is done correctly, then your site will be transformed, and beautiful plants will delight your eyes for a long time.
