The small-flowered, burning clematis clematis flammula has a powerful deciduous mass, and when snow-white flowers appear on it, the plant instantly becomes bright and eye-catching. After all, it is impossible to pass by a huge white air cloud. The brightness and beauty of clematis burning can transform any household farm. With its help, both an amateur and a professional landscape designer can easily bring tenderness and airiness to their composition. And the unpretentious nature and resistance to winter temperatures will only add to the desire to use this culture again and again.

This type of clematis is also referred to as representatives of the buttercup. It is found near the Black and Mediterranean Seas, preferring to grow in forest plantations and in overgrown shrub forests.
The appearance of this plant is a small-flowered, bushy climbing wild liana, the height of which is up to 5 m (width - 3-4 m).
The dark green leaves of clematis are slightly pointed. In spring, dense green thickets are completely covered with buds, and by summer the vines will be showered with small flowers resembling stars.
Its sepals are not quite ordinary, the edges are slightly pubescent. The plant is rich in flowers - on one shoot there can be from two to four hundred flowers, in panicle inflorescences.
Sometimes a white flower cover can cover all the greenery, and indeed such a picture resembles a large white cloud. The fabulous appearance is complemented by a small scent of honey that spreads for tens of meters.
At the end of the season, the plant is covered with fruits that resemble bizarre spiders. Seeds with a fluffy proboscis in large numbers represent an interesting picture, and it does not at all look like the one blooming. But she is also beautiful, only in a different way.
Clematis are loved by both professionals and amateur gardeners, not only for their unique external qualities, but also for their unpretentious disposition and ease of care. As an additional bonus - longevity (on average, a culture lives up to 30 years).
Clematis hot: pros and cons

If we talk about the advantages of this type of clematis, then, of course, this is its external data in conjunction with the most delicate aroma. In one row of advantages, one can put the duration of flowering (the entire warm season), unpretentiousness, resistance to winter temperatures (sometimes clematis is burning and no shelter is needed), and, of course, the 25-year lifespan of the culture. Namely, thanks to the listed advantages, it is often chosen by gardeners and landscape designers.
The main disadvantage of burning small-flowered white clematis is that it is not sufficiently resistant to many diseases and harmful insects. It is also very sensitive to irregularities in irrigation regimes, immediately fades and stops blooming.

Seeds. If you propagate small-flowered white clematis with seeds, then the initial characteristics of this small-flowered plant will not change. The time to collect ripe seeds is the end of October. After collecting and cleaning the seeds from the cannon, they are engaged in seed stratification (i.e. keeping them in moist sandy soil or in the cold).
At the end of April or at the beginning of May, sowing is carried out in a closed soil (greenhouse). The soil is chosen sandy (+ peat 1: 1).Spread the seeds gently on top of the soil and sprinkle with a sand mixture. Water the planting of burning clematis in a timely manner. When the sprouts give 2-3 leaves, the plants dive. In the final place, you can plant a sapling of burning clematis in the coming spring.
By dividing the bushes. With this method, as standard, digging a strong plant from the soil, carefully divide it into parts. Each such part should have a bunch of roots and shoots with buds.
Layers. At the beginning of spring, a shallow trench is made near the bush (about 7-8 cm deep), where one of the healthy strong shoots is placed, securing it with metal staples. It is not necessary to sprinkle such a shoot-layering with soil, so it will sprout much longer. And as soon as you notice small bushes, it means it's time to sprinkle the layer with soil. They take care of the seedlings at the same time as the mother plant. After one year, the shoot-layering should be dug out, chopped up, and tiny bushy plants should be planted on pre-prepared soil.
Clematis burning: propagation by cuttings. It is very difficult to propagate burning clematis by cuttings, but at the same time it is quite interesting. For this purpose, take both young and hardened branches-shoots. They take a 10-centimeter strong branch and make 2 cuts: the first is from above, above the knot, and the second is obliquely under the knot. Cut the leaves at the bottom and process the cutting with Kornevin (you can take Heteroauxin). Then, cuttings are planted in a light and loose greenhouse soil as follows: the cuttings are planted with a slope, deepening the top by 10 mm, and the lower part by 30 mm. The cuttings should be regularly moistened, and after a couple of months they can be planted in beds and grown. Finally, sprouts are planted from cuttings of young shoots - in autumn, and from hardened ones - in spring.
Clematis burning small-flowered white: planting and care

Clematis is planted in different regions in different ways: in the south, burning clematis is planted in the fall, and in the northern latitudes - in the spring. In any case, it should be a bright, sunny side, but without a direct sun. Different types of drafts are a disaster for clematis, the same as the close location of ground currents.
Clematis likes light, loose, slightly alkaline or acidic earth. When planting, you need: humus (2 c.), Peat (1 c.), Superphosphates (150 g) and ash (300 g).
First, the seedlings of burning clematis are prepared: the plant is cut to the first bud. Then, having dug a hole (60x60x60 cm), they are engaged in drainage (a support structure is placed on the bottom of the hole and covered with rubble or gravel). The next layer is the main soil, and already in it, straightening the roots, a plant is planted. The pit is not completely covered with soil, leaving about ten centimeters. The last stage of planting a burning clematis is watering and mulching the clematis trunk circle.
Watering is a very important point in the care of small-flowered clematis, since clematis loves moisture very much. In this regard, it is watered at least once a week, but if it is hot - at least two to three times a week. It is important to remember that water does not fall on the foliage, otherwise the plant may wilt.
Along with moistening the soil, clematis requires loosening, clearing weeds and mulching with peat, sawdust and leaves. With this procedure, moisture will evaporate less and the topsoil will have enough moisture. But the golden mean is important here, since due to an excess of moisture (for example, from rain), the roots can rot. To avoid this, wood ash is sprinkled into the trunk circle.
Separately, it should be said about the regular feeding of clematis. It is essential for abundant growth and flowering. Competent feeding consists of alternately applying mineral and organic fertilizers every 21 days during active growth. According to the recommendations of experienced gardeners, they are brought in simultaneously with watering. During flowering, fertilization is not necessary, becausenutrients will go to the foliage, and this can damage the flowering. In the fall, when the flowering is over, clematis is fertilized with dressings with phosphorus and potassium.
It is important to use supporting structures that support the vines. Anything can serve as supporting structures (arch, gazebo, house wall, fence, etc.)
Cut off small-flowered clematis in several steps:
- to extend the flowering period in the spring, get rid of the side branches;
- around the middle of summer, pinching of young twigs is done;
- At the end of autumn, a complete pruning of the bush is done.
In general, it is not difficult to care for clematis, and, according to the rules, even the most inexperienced gardener can carry out all the manipulations.
How to best prepare for winter

By the winter period, the upper part of the plant dies off, that is, it turns out that only the root system hibernates. This type of clematis is frost-resistant, it is easily able to cope with the harsh and little snow winter without any protection. The only thing that must be remembered to do is the autumn pruning of all the climbing branches.
Clematis burning small-flowered: diseases and pests
Clematis has an average disease resistance. Basically, it is susceptible to diseases of powdery mildew, gray rot, rust, spotting. Interestingly, the plan for treating all of these diseases is the same:
- removal of damaged plants and their parts;
- watering with baseazole or azocel, trying not to get the solution on the leaves and stems;
- spraying during the growing season with polycarbocine or copper or iron sulfate (they are used if spotting appears).
Separately, it should be said about the prevention of diseases. It mainly consists of competent care, regular hydration and feeding. Small-flowered white stinging clematis is mostly uninteresting for harmful insects, as it scares them off on its own. But for reliability, smelling annuals can be planted for this purpose, for example, calendula or velvet are suitable. If, nevertheless, harmful insects appear, the plant is treated with insecticides.
As a preventive measure, it is necessary to inspect the plant with some regularity and immediately get rid of suspicious damaged leaves or stems.
About the main problems of caring for clematis in questions and answers
What if the plant stops growing?
It happens that in the 2nd year at the beginning of summer, having reached about 20 cm, the plant stops growing. This indicates a violation of the care regimen. The first thing to do is to start watering often, and the second is to feed the crop twice or even three times with nitrogen-containing fertilizers (urea will do).
What if the tops dry up?
If you notice curling and drying tops of clematis, then know that he needs watering or treatment for aphids. If clematis is affected by aphids, then it must be sprinkled three times at intervals of 3-4 days with a decoction of tobacco or chili pepper. If these methods of treatment do not bring results, then it is worth resorting to chemicals.
What if the flowers become small?
In this case, most often, the roots lack moisture. To solve this problem, shallow trenches are made along the diameter of the plant, and watering is carried out in them. Fertilizers can also be applied there.
The brightness and beauty of clematis burning can transform any household farm. With its help, both an amateur and a professional landscape designer can easily bring tenderness and airiness to their composition. And the unpretentious nature and resistance to winter temperatures will only add to the desire to use this culture again and again.
