Growing methods

Cabbage: growing instructions
There are two ways to plant cabbage: by seeds directly into open ground, and by seedlings.
With regard to seeds, this method is not entirely reliable. In the spring, when the ground warms up, you need to dig holes 20 cm deep and up to 30 cm wide.Add fertilizer there, pour water and
sow 3-4 seeds in each well, and cover with glass or foil. Water and ventilate regularly. And after 2 weeks, when the seedlings grow a little, leave one of the strongest in the hole. But this method of planting is not very good because the seeds do not sprout evenly, and they may not sprout at all.
It is much safer to plant seedlings, in mid-May you need to soak the seeds in hot water for several hours. After that, in a container with earth, make grooves 1 cm deep, 2-3 cm apart, and plant one seed at a time, with a distance of 2 cm, spray from a spray bottle, cover with foil and put in a warm place. after the seedlings rise, the film is removed and the container is placed on the window. You need to water it regularly, and at the very beginning of June, when 7 leaves appear on the seedlings, it is transplanted into open ground. In the holes, the distance between which should be at least 25 cm, you need to plant late in the evening, when it is cool and there is no sun. The first three days the cabbage is cast, that is, watered in the morning and in the evening, pouring 1 liter of water into each hole. Then you need to water once a day. When the cabbage is well-rooted and standing firmly, it needs to be spud a little. During the growth period, fertilizer is no longer needed to be added, this is done only once before planting, but you need to water a lot, since she loves moisture very much, and it is advisable to loosen it after each watering. Of the pests of cabbage, there are mainly cabbage butterflies, and in order to get rid of them, cabbage is treated with drugs against this pest, or simply regularly collect caterpillars from heads of cabbage. Early and mid-season cabbage varieties are harvested as the heads ripen, but the late ones are harvested only when the first frost hits.
Where and when to plant cabbage
Cabbage should be planted in a sunny place, preferably not far from a container of water. It is not recommended to plant in the same place for two years in a row, so potatoes, cucumbers, onions and tomatoes will be the best predecessors.
