We save vegetables - potatoes
When rotten potatoes appear, an urgent need to sort out the entire crop and get rid of them. This indicates that the tubers could sweat in some places. Stir the potatoes that have gone through in such a way that the one that was on the bottom is on the top. In the room where potato tubers are stored, the temperature should be within +4 degrees, and it should also be well ventilated.
In order to avoid the appearance of excess moisture, you can put in small containers with lime. Also, for these purposes, beets are well suited. It is placed on top of the potatoes. As a result of moisture absorption, it becomes juicier.
How best to preserve vegetables - carrots
You can store carrots simply by stacking them in a pile, but in this case, they will quickly rot, and in addition to everything, they will begin to sprout. For better preservation, carrots are folded into plastic bags and sprinkled with wet sand.
It is possible to use a different storage method. Carrots are carefully sorted out and the tops are cut off. Further, it is dipped in a specially prepared liquid (lime talker). After such manipulations, the carrots are put in a box, while each layer is sprinkled with wet sand.
Save vegetables for the winter - cabbage
For storing cabbage, it is best to sprinkle the rack with coniferous sawdust. The heads of cabbage are placed vertically, the stump should be at the top. At the same time, there should be a lot of green covering leaves on the cabbage. If you have slatted shelves, then, in this case, the cabbage can be stacked in one row. In order to get cabbage seeds next year, the head of cabbage is stored along with the root.
Parsley
For storage, parsley can simply be piled up (pile). This method helps attract rodents, as the parsley roots are quite aromatic. In order to avoid spoilage of the product by mice and rats, it is folded into a box upholstered with iron. You can also cover the parsley roots with spruce branches. In this case, coniferous branches not only protect the crop from rodents, but also kill harmful microorganisms.
Traps are also used to trap mice and rats. They need to be checked in a timely manner and the bait changed. It is also possible to close up the cracks with iron so that rodents cannot enter the room.
How to keep apples
Winter varieties of apples, such as Antonovka, are easily stored for more than one month. For better safety, the bottom of the shallow storage box is covered with shavings. Then apples are laid in rows, each of which is also sprinkled with shavings. They are also stored wrapping each in paper. In this way, you can save the harvest until spring.
It would be nice to hang thermometers in the room where the crop is stored to monitor temperature and humidity indicators.
