How to dilute copper sulfate for processing trees

Copper sulfate: briefly about processing
The composition of the solutions directly depends on what they want to use it for. It is very important not to forget during work that copper sulfate is a poisonous and rather dangerous substance. Harm can be brought to people, plants and the external environment, just due to improper concentration. Now you will learn how to properly breed copper sulfate in water and how to process trees and shrubs with it.
What solutions exist
Three types of solutions based on copper sulfate are often used by gardeners.
1) Concentration of three tenths of a percent
Concentration of three tenths of a percent - thirty grams of a substance, prophylactic or fertilizing type, is diluted in ten liters of water. Solutions with such a concentration are needed to fertilize plants, sometimes they are used as protection against various diseases, mainly fungi. If the plant has a lack of copper, this solution is also applicable. Lack of copper in trees affects the appearance of leaves and shoots, they begin to curl, shoots may stop forming.
2) Concentration in five tenths or one whole percent
The concentration is five tenths or one whole percent - for ten liters of water, fifty to one hundred grams of the substance are needed, prophylactic or curative. As a rule, such solutions are used as a prophylaxis against various infections and to avoid pest attacks. For example, it can be used to avoid anthracnose, coccomycosis, pathological spotting and various types of rot. Some gardeners recommend using this solution when tree branches or shoots are damaged, it will help to regenerate plant cells faster. At this concentration, the plants will not get burned.
3) High concentrations of three and five percent
High concentrations of three and five percent are a burning type and three hundred to five hundred grams of a substance are taken per ten liters of water. Such solutions are used very carefully, they can damage both the plant and the person, with the necessary disinfection of the soil to kill mold and the like. Nothing should grow in such cultivated land throughout the year.
Copper sulfate: correct preparation of solutions
You will soon learn that it is not at all difficult to dilute copper sulfate in water and how to do it. A bucket is taken, the amount of copper sulfate you need is poured into it, then you fill it with a certain amount of water, the mixture must be mixed very thoroughly.
Active component weight
The mass of the substance depends on the concentration you need, then we will show with examples: one percent - one hundred grams of the substance is taken for ten liters of water; two tenths of a percent - twenty grams of vitriol per ten liters of water. If you need to dilute vitriol in five liters of water, then its amount must be halved compared to ten liters, for example, a concentration of three tenths of a percent is thirty grams per ten liters, for five liters you need fifteen grams.
Copper sulfate: safety measures
In order not to damage the skin, it is better to protect yourself with gloves, a special mask and a water-repellent suit. The solutions cannot be stored for a long time (no more than ten hours), so they are prepared immediately before processing the trees. Unmixed particles of a substance that can harm the plant may remain, so the solution must be filtered before use.
The first prophylaxis is recommended in the spring, while the kidneys have not yet opened, we use the second type of concentration from five tenths of a percent to one percent. It is better to observe the temperature regime and spray in the morning and evening, when the temperature rises above six degrees Celsius. Before opening the kidneys, you can treat the soil with a 1% solution, taking into account the consumption - three liters per one square meter.
Watering the ground and spraying the plant is recommended after the leaves fall off in the fall.
Copper sulfate: a rule for use
During the period of flowering and ripening of fruits, it is strictly forbidden to spray trees! During planting of seedlings, you can use the solution as a disinfectant, a solution with a one percent concentration in it is suitable, you need to soak the seedlings by lowering them for three minutes, then it is important to rinse with heated water.
Copper sulfate for trees for preventive purposes
A solution of copper sulfate can be used to get rid of various diseases. When you notice signs of disease, the plants must be sprayed with a spray bottle.
In the case of apples, pears and quince
It is important to remember that the amount of the substance depends on the type of your plant. Apple trees, pears and quince are sprayed with a one percent solution (one hundred grams per ten liters), an average of five liters per tree is spent, it will help against scab, spotting and drying out.
Sweet fruit trees
Various sweet fruit trees (apricot, doggie, plum, cherry, sweet cherry) will need a five-tenth-one percent solution of copper sulfate, the consumption is the same as in the previous group, it will help with coccomycosis, spots and curliness.
Gooseberries and currants
For gooseberries and currants, a solution with a concentration of five tenths to one percent will wait, one and a half liters will be needed for one bush. It will help against anthracnose, septoria and spotting.
Caution:
You already understood the process of preparing solutions. We will find out how to save ourselves from burns now:
Iron reacts with copper, so you cannot dilute the mixture in iron buckets.
To prevent the chemical solution from damaging the skin and retina, it is better to protect yourself. With a suit, mask and gloves.
It is strictly forbidden to prepare solutions in food containers and other utensils.
During the preparation of solutions, food and drinks should be avoided.
The remaining solution should not be poured into closed reservoirs and rivers, remember that it is poisonous.
If the chemical solution comes into contact with any part of the body, especially the eyes, rinse the damaged area immediately.
If you somehow swallowed part of the solution, you should immediately rinse the stomach, drink filterum / activated carbon and consult a doctor. When washing the stomach, solutions based on potassium permanganate cannot be used, they can react with a solution of copper sulfate. This reaction can lead to very complex poisoning.
Copper sulfate: additional information on tree processing
It is better not to use solutions based on copper sulfate in greenhouses, it may not come out of the soil and then it will be poisoned and will have to be completely replaced.
If you have processed the plant and it rains, of course everything will be washed off from it, but re-processing in this case is unacceptable. Again, the soil can absorb copper and become unsuitable for planting crops.
In case of problems in retaining the solution on the leaves, grated soap can be added to it. Thirty grams of grated soap is added to ten liters of solution.
