To grow ageratum with seeds: you need to take a container with peat, humus and sand in equal parts. At the very beginning of March, take this container, make grooves with it and sow seeds.
After sowing the seeds, sprinkle the ground from a spray bottle and cover with foil, put the container in a warm place. in 10 days the first shoots will appear. After they appear, the film must be removed and placed on a light window.
For the first two weeks, the sprouts only need to be carefully sprayed from the spray bottle, in the future they can already be fully watered. Once every 10 days, seedlings need to be fertilized in small quantities, and at the end of May, when the ground warms up well and there will be no frost, the seedlings can be planted in open ground.
Propagation by cuttings: to propagate by cuttings, in the fall, before the onset of frost, you need to dig the plant out of the ground. And plant in pots, which should be in the house, in a place where there is as much light as possible. You need to water the flowers once a week, and apply top dressing once a month.
In April, cuttings can be cut from a bush and planted in damp ground. Watering is necessary often, until the cuttings take root. After each watering, the pots with cuttings should be covered with foil. The pot should always be in a warm and bright place.
After 3-4 weeks, they will take root, the film can be removed, and the first shoots will soon grow. It will be possible to plant cuttings outside from mid to late May, when there will be no cold weather.
Ageratum cultivation and care
No matter how you plant ageratum, one hundred cuttings, which should be gradually hardened with seedlings 2-3 weeks before planting in open ground. After the flower has been planted on the street, it does not need to be watered often, but abundantly, and after each watering, the ground must be loosened. If there is too much moisture, the flower may start to rot.
Every 3 weeks, fertilizers are introduced into the ground, and they are pruned a little, then it begins to bloom more abundantly. All faded flowers must also be cut off immediately, then all the power will go into new flowers. And once a month, you can prune to rejuvenate the bush, and shape the bush. And in order for the bush to be thicker, the tops of its sprouts are pinched, then it begins to grow not in height, but in breadth.
Because of the beauty and aroma of this flower, it has many diseases and pests, unfortunately it will be very difficult to get rid of them and all damaged parts of the flower must be removed immediately, it is much easier to prevent them by spraying the bushes with a decoction of their herbs.
It is necessary to plant ageratum in a sunny place where there are no drafts. If there is even the slightest shadow at the landing site, then the flower does not bloom well, all the strength goes into growth and the bush becomes very thin. Also, there should be no dampness and stones at the landing site. If the land is light and fertile, then flowering will delight you with its abundance and beauty.
