Many of us prepare various cabbage dishes, it can be various soups, side dishes, main course, pastries, etc. Planting cabbage in open ground is a very responsible process.
Seedling
Seedlings can be purchased in the store or planted by yourself. It is best to grow seedlings in a greenhouse. In order for the seedlings to be fertile, you need to plant them at the right time. There are three types: early-maturing, mid-maturing, late-maturing.
Early ripe. Ripens within two to three months. It must be planted in early March.
Mid-season. Ripens within three to five months. It is necessary to plant after March 15, but before April 15.
Late ripening. Ripens within five to seven months. It is necessary to plant in early April.
Planting cabbage in open ground
First you need to purchase seeds from the store. We make holes 0.6 mm deep for each seed, at a distance of at least 3 cm from each other. Transfer the box with the planted seeds to the brightest place. After 4 days they hatch.
Seedling care
After the seeds have grown, they must be transplanted into separate containers. When replanting cabbage, it is necessary to trim the roots so that they become more branched. It is worth watering in moderation, cabbage does not like a lot of water. But the light should be provided enough for about 14-15 hours a day. The temperature should be 15-16 degrees during the day, and 7-10 at night. Before planting seedlings, it must be accustomed to new conditions. This should be started in about 15 days. To begin with, you can simply open the window so that the cabbage gets used to the cold, then take it outside for 1-3 hours, at the end, the seedlings should be left outside overnight, provided that the temperature is not lower than 1-3 degrees.
Planting cabbage in open ground: soil selection
The most suitable soil is loam, because it contains humus, which retains water in the soil. It is worth thinking about the fact that you will plant cabbage even in the fall, because the garden for it must be dug up both in the fall and in the spring. In the fall, it is necessary to dig it up in September. the soil is still wet, but in the spring, on the contrary, it is worth waiting for the earth to dry out. You can fertilize the soil with manure up to 5 kg per 1 sq. meter, if the earth is acidified, then add lime, this should be done before digging.
Disembarkation
Planting seedlings depends directly on the variety. Early ripe seedlings should be planted when the ground temperature is about 10 degrees, that is, around the end of April, beginning of May.
Mid-season seedlings should be planted around the end of May, beginning of June.
Planting should be done in the morning or in the evening, weather conditions do not have to be clear and sunny, it is allowed to plant even in light rain. The planting scheme is as follows: an early ripe cabbage variety should be planted 45-25 cm. Other varieties 70-40 cm. A prerequisite is deepening, otherwise the cabbage will hurt.
