How to create a green hedge from cuttings
Content:
Propagation by cuttings is a fun activity. You can get the plant pretty quickly and for free. If the area of the site allows, you can simultaneously cut a large number of plants, growing them in a school, transplanting from there to a permanent place. In this way, you can easily get a green hedge from cuttings.
Pond hedge from cuttings: time and rules for choosing cuttings
Reproduction by green cuttings is most effective during the period of their sap flow. Most trees and shrubs enter this phase by June - mid-July. Cuttings are cut in cloudy weather, rainy weather is even better. During this period, the plant has a maximum cell tug. Non-flowering shoots are suitable for cuttings.
The cuttings are planted the next day, they are kept for 24 hours in an aqueous solution of a growth regulator. It is not recommended to use powdered preparations that are intended for dusting.
An oblique cut is made with a sharp knife directly under the kidney. The cuttings are immediately placed in the growth regulator solution. Please note that the preparation contains components to stimulate root formation and elements that increase resistance to various diseases.
Greenhouse landing
Rooting takes place better in a greenhouse than in a greenhouse. A bed for cuttings must be prepared in advance. One is laid in a layer of fertile soil, humus is added (for intensive nutrition) and on top of a substrate of peat and sand, about 7-8 cm thick. The bed must be thoroughly watered, then the seedlings must be planted. Peat pots are used for cuttings of roses. Roses do not tolerate frost well, so they must be transferred to frost-free rooms.
Top dressing of cuttings
The lower leaves of the cutting must be removed, the rest are cut into 2/3 of the leaf plate - this reduces the evaporation of moisture. Cuttings are planted slightly at an angle. Future cuttings for hedges need abundant watering, it is necessary to prevent the soil from drying out. Spraying is performed with anti-stress drugs (Epin-extra) and an inducer of disease resistance. It is also useful to carry out spraying and watering with special preparations for root formation. After 14 - 20 days, re-fertilization is carried out with fertilizers. Various species are suitable here, including those with seaweed.
Cuttings hedge: care after rooting
Usually the cuttings are growing for 1 - 2 years. A place for a hedge made of cuttings must be located in a shady part of the garden, this will make it possible to remove the film immediately after rooting and take care of it as for ordinary young plants. The lack of light and nutrients is replenished with fertilizers. Ferovit is sprayed with iron chelate to increase photosynthesis.
In this way, plants such as jasmine, honeysuckle, Kuril tea, roses, climbing phlox, privet, Japanese quince and spirea take root well.
