Irezine: cultivation, care, transplantation and varieties
Content:
The name "irezine" unites nearly eighty plant species, all of them belong to the "Amoranta" family. In nature, in their natural environment, they can be found in warm countries: in the Antilles or Galapagos Islands, in Australia, as well as in South America. Irezine are very diverse, among them there are herbaceous plants, and various shrubs, and trees with climbing branches. Rounded, oval or heart-shaped leaves, as a rule, are located oppositely, in some species, the edges of the leaves are serrated. Iresine inflorescences resemble ears.
Among flower growers in our country, two types of irezine are most popular; they have beautiful spectacular foliage of an unusual color. These plants are used to decorate flower beds, flower beds and lawns, and are also grown as a houseplant. In more detail about the most popular types of plants, as well as about the rules for caring for irezin, we will tell you in this article.
Irezine cultivation
Irezine can be considered an unpretentious plant. The only requirement is long daylight hours. If the windows of your apartment face north, then most likely the plant will need additional lighting (for this you can use fluorescent lamps or special phytolamps). In other cases, additional lighting is not required. On the southern windowsill, it is even necessary to shade the plants a little during the hottest daytime hours, otherwise sunburns may appear on the leaves. After acquiring irezine, accustom it to the sun gradually, placing it at a certain distance from the window for the first time.
There is no need to create special temperature conditions for indoor rubber. In winter, he needs a temperature not lower than +15 degrees, and in summer, the most comfortable temperature will be + 20 ... + 25 degrees. In the heat, the leaves lose their elasticity and become lethargic, so in the summer, during the daytime, you can rearrange the plant in the shade and spray it additionally.
Irezine does not require high humidity and feels comfortable in the apartment. However, with the onset of the heating season, the air in the room may become too dry, so you can periodically spray the plant or place a container with water next to it, which, evaporating, will increase the humidity of the air.
Irezine care
Like all indoor plants, irezine does not like waterlogging, but it should not be allowed to completely dry out the soil in a pot. As soon as you see that the topsoil is dry, the plant needs watering. In the winter months, when the plant is dormant, the amount of watering is reduced, but they continue to make sure that the land does not dry out. Before watering the plant, the water must be defended for at least a day. Tap water is too hard and is categorically not suitable for watering any indoor plants, it must always be defended beforehand.
Starting in spring, when the plant comes out of dormancy, it is necessary to carry out top dressing using a complex mineral fertilizer for decorative leafy plants - you will find a rich selection of such fertilizers in any flower shop or garden center. Top dressing can be done every 10-14 days. In autumn and winter, the amount of fertilizer should be reduced, it will be enough to feed the irezine once a month and a half, and the dosage of fertilizer should also be reduced.
Pruning can be done in February to stimulate more vigorous shoot growth in the spring. Then, during the spring-summer period, you need to pinch the tops of the shoots, then your plant will be more lush and voluminous.
Irezine transplant
Rezine should be transplanted every two or three years. The plant requires soil with a low acidity level. To prepare a suitable soil, it is necessary to mix one part of peat and sand, two parts of peat soil, as well as four parts of leaf and turf soil. A prerequisite is the presence of a drainage hole in the transplant container and a layer of expanded clay at the bottom to avoid moisture stagnation and subsequent root decay.
Irezine breeding
Propagated by irezine by rooting cuttings. It is better to cut the planting material from young plants in order to preserve decorativeness. The best time for reproduction is the beginning of spring, when active growth begins and the plants take root easily. Prepared cuttings should be planted in moistened sand, at an ambient temperature of about +20 degrees, rooting usually occurs within ten days. After that, the plants must be planted in separate containers with nutrient soil, at first they must be grown at a temperature of +20 degrees (it is important to ensure that there are no large temperature changes and drafts), after the adaptation period, they should be looked after in the same way as for adults irezin ...
Possible problems
If we talk about the attack of harmful insects, then in the conditions of an apartment this happens quite rarely, but nevertheless, aphids or spider mites may appear. In this case, treatment with insecticidal preparations that can be used indoors will be required. Do not forget about personal protective measures and carefully observe the dosage of the drug.
If the plant is not comfortable enough, then you will understand this by its appearance:
- If the leaves of an adult plant fall off, then this may be part of a natural process, especially in the autumn-winter period. If the leaves fall off a young irezine, then most likely the plant should be moved closer to the light.
- Excessively elongated stems, which become thin and fragile, also indicate a lack of light.
- Another reason for unplanned leaf fall may be a lack of moisture or, conversely, waterlogging of the soil. That is why it is very important to ensure drainage and adhere to the irrigation regime.
Varieties
Among flower growers, two types of plants are especially popular - Linden's irezine and Herbst's irezine. Both plants are herbaceous perennials.
Irezine Lindena has a dark red color on the stem and leaves, oval leaves, their length usually does not exceed six centimeters. The plant itself grows up to half a meter. With timely pruning, the plant begins to grow new branchy shoots very quickly. In nature, the natural habitat of the Linden irezine is the Ecuadorian rainforest.
The homeland of Herbst's irezina are also tropical forests, but in Brazil. Red stems with purple leaves grow up to 40 cm, The leaves are heart-shaped. Regardless of the variety, all irezine varieties are very beautiful and will look great both in the garden on the flower bed and on the windowsill.
