Apple pear
Content:
Apple pear is a pear variety that was bred in the Far East at a research institute dedicated to agriculture. The author is the scientist Bolognaev, who was engaged in crossing, experimentation and testing. The author used winter Decanka pollen for pollination of the hybrid.
After removing the Apple Pear, it passed many checks, after which it was added to the State Register. Apple pear was bred specifically for cold regions, but despite this, when grown in the south, Apple will bring the same yield and feel just as comfortable.
Apple pear: variety description and characteristics
Apple pear - half-stemmed, strongly growing with a crown in the shape of a pyramid. The branches are located at a fairly large distance from each other, so the crown is formed of medium density. At the same time, the variety differs in that it has branches and shoots of different lengths, starting with very short ones, ending with long shoots. It is this arrangement and length of the branches that form an interesting crown shape. The branches of the plant are skeletal and are located at a certain slope from the trunk of the tree. The bark and branches have the same color, brown-gray with a burgundy tint. This ebb is visible only in sunlight.
The shoot is no different from other varieties, it is medium in size, and also has some edges in sections. It has short internodes, on which the lentils are located at a great distance. The buds from which the fruits will be formed are large and resemble a cone. The foliage is small, each leaf has an oval shape that tapers slightly towards one end. The edges of the leaves are serrated and slightly raised upward. The green color of the leaves changes during life and becomes black-green.
Features of the variety
- Fruit.
Small apple-shaped pears, approximately each fruit weighs about 60 grams. With age, the weight of the crop becomes less and less, reaching 27 grams. But, the average weight is considered to be 54-56 grams. The shape of the fruit is round and slightly beveled. From the name it is clear that the shape is very similar to an apple.
Upon reaching full maturity, the variety becomes yellow with a small reddish speck. The stems of the variety are short and wide, and also slightly curved. The peel of the pear is very smooth, without various roughness. The inside of the fruit contains a juicy pulp, which is slightly firm even when fully ripe. The scent of the fruit is reminiscent of the smell of flower honey, so gardeners always enjoy the scent of the tree during flowering and fruit emergence. The fruit has a sweet and sour taste, sometimes with a slight bitterness.
Each apple pear contains a lot of useful microelements: 17% natural sugar, 2% tannin, 2% pectin, 20% vitamin C, 15% vitamin R.
- Harvesting.
Harvesting can be done both before and after full ripening. Usually pears ripen at the end of September and are stored for 2-2.5 weeks. But if you want to preserve the fruits for a long time, then you need to take care of this in advance. At the beginning of September, you need to harvest and place in a cold place. In this case, pears can be stored for 2-3 months.
Note: The fruits of the apple pear are very firmly attached to the branch, therefore, even at full maturity, they do not fall off or break. This is very convenient for the gardener, since he will not have to worry about the integrity of the fruit.
The first harvest after planting can be done after 4 years. At the same time, for the first time, the tree brings about 30 kilograms. And, over the next 3-4 years, the yield will increase and may increase up to 50 kilograms. But after this time, the amount of the crop will begin to decrease, and the fruits become smaller and smaller.
