Bred by crossing the Forest Beauty and Williams varieties. The author of such a work is the famous breeder P.V. Kuznetsov. The main area for growing the Mashuk pear variety is the North Caucasus region.
Pear Mashuk: variety description and characteristics
A medium-sized tree of the Mashuk pear variety, the formation of the crown is more rounded, there is sufficient density of branches and deciduous cover. The color of the branches is a little lighter, gray, small brownish fragments are observed. The branches are directed at an acute angle. They are located rather compactly, towards the top. Cylindrical trunk formation, smooth bark structure, gray color.
Brown, slightly lightened shoots. The leaf plates are colored green, even dark, medium-sized, smooth surface, matte finish. Slightly pointed, elongated shape of an oblong leaf.
The flowers are white, medium size, round.
Identical in size, regular, pear-shaped. When it reaches full maturity and is located on a fruit tree, the fruits are colored green, juicy, slightly washed out. Some, insignificant areas of the fruit have a reddish-brown tint. When harvesting for storage, the color changes to a greenish, even more yellow, partially reddish-brown color. An insignificant amount of subcutaneous punctures of a very small size, green tone. At a state of consumer maturity, the color turns yellow-green, very pronounced, the cover is red-brown. The stalk itself is of medium length and thickness. Direct growth direction. Wide in shape, medium in size, the funnel, weak manifestation of rust or its complete absence.
Semi-open, non-falling cup. Slightly narrow, light grooves and smallness of the saucer. Elliptical shape, medium-sized heart. Medium size and fully enclosed chambers. Medium-sized subgheral tube. Large seed size, narrowish shape, reminiscent of a small jug, colored with a light brown tint.
The flesh of the Mashuk pear is creamy, slightly oily, but very delicate in taste. Increased juiciness, medium aroma, sweet, slightly sour taste. Consider the chemical composition: sugar - 9.5%, dry matter - almost 15%, ascorbic acid - for every 100 grams of product - 6.8 mg of acid, titratable acid - 0.11%.
Harvesting begins at 20 August and lasts until September 10. The amount of the crop is 90% of the declared by the author. Shelf life is short, up to 20 days in a cool room or refrigerator.
Features of the variety
Pear Mashuk really needs additional pollination, for example, the following varieties: Williams, Krasnodar summer, Grand Champion, Clapp's Favorite, Red-cheeked, Conference.
Only when they reach seven years of age are trees able to bring the first harvest. But fruiting and flowering occurs regularly, every season. Increased productivity, at the onset of the age of 12 years, if this is an industrial cultivation, it is possible to collect up to 168 centners per hectare. Such a record was set when grown in the Stavropol Territory, in the foothills.
