The Stavropol Research Station has developed a new late summer variety called "Caucasus". Pear Kavkaz was discovered by P.V. Kuznetsov by crossing Williams and Lesnaya Krasavitsa varieties. Basically, the Caucasus pear variety is distributed over the territory of the North Caucasus.
Pear Caucasus: description of the variety and characteristics
The tree itself is not large. The crown is not very thick. The bark is smooth and gray in color.
Shoots of beautiful cherry blossom. Little cherevichek, but those that are very small.
The buds are conical in shape, smooth, of medium size.
The leaves are medium-sized, dark green, matte. The leaves are wide in shape, finely serrate at the edges and pointed to the apex. The petiole is long and thin. There are stipules, they are small.
It blooms with beautiful white flowers with rounded petals.
The fruits of the Caucasus variety pear are of the correct shape, it is pleasant to look at them, everything is like a selection. When the fruit can be eaten, the skin is greenish. The cover is blurry red. The dots are clearly visible, they are green. The peduncle is set obliquely, it is of medium length and very thick. There is a wide saucer with a closed cup, but no funnel.
Seeds are light brown in color, small and pointed in shape.
The pulp of the Caucasus pear variety smells good, it is creamy, and the taste is very sweet.
Features of the variety
The fruits are harvested from August 20 to September 5. Adapted for transportation. In special places for storing fruits, fruits lie quietly for a month and a half.
High percentage of first class fruit (90%).
If you remove the fruits from the tree before full maturity, this is August 10-15, it will lie longer.
The Kavkaz pear variety needs additional pollinators. The following varieties are well suited for pollination: Lyubimitsa Klappa, Williams, Bere Bosk, Krasnoshchekaya, Nalchikskaya Kostyka, Korsunskaya.
The crop appears in the seventh year. But it bears fruit regularly.
The Caucasus pear tolerates cold well. Disease resistance is relative.
