Pear Yeseninskaya
Content:
Pear Yeseninskaya was bred by scientists from the All-Russian Scientific Research Institute for Breeding Fruit Crops E.N. Sedov, N.G. Krasova, A.G. Kuznetsov and E.A. Dolmatova. The “parents” of the Yeseninskaya pear variety were several other varieties at once: “Severyanka”, “Koperechka”, “Bere Ligel”, “Lyubimitsa Klappa” and “Olivier de Serre”.
Pear Yeseninskaya: variety description and characteristics
Yeseninskaya pear is an autumn variety, the harvest is harvested either at the end of summer or in early September. Among the main advantages of this variety are
- Annual fruiting and good yield.
- Resistant to fungal diseases, especially scab.
- Exceptional early maturity - the first ovaries may appear as early as two years after planting.
- Excellent taste of the fruit.
- Good winter hardiness.
The Yeseninskaya pear tree is of medium size. The main "skeletal" branches are located at an acute angle relative to the trunk and form a rather dense crown, which has a conical shape. The smooth bark on the trunk and branches is grayish brown. Young shoots are brown. Oval, slightly curved dark green leaves have a smooth surface and small denticles at the edges.
Flowers are small, white with pale pink anthers.
The size of the pears of the Yeseninskaya variety is on average 120-140 grams, the dense, slightly rough skin has rusting near the funnel. During harvest, pears are light green in color; later, when ripe, they become yellow-green. On the side of the fruit that has been turned into the sun, a pink-red cover blush may appear. Juicy semi-oily, creamy pulp has a pleasant sweet and sour taste and a delicate nutmeg aroma. Tasting assessment of the Yeseninskaya pear variety is 4.3 points out of five.
With good care, an adult tree can be harvested about 45 kilograms of fruit per season, on an industrial scale this is more than 200 centners per hectare.
Pear Yeseninskaya: planting varieties
Pear Yeseninskaya is not too demanding on the composition of the soil, but still feels most comfortable in light and loose soil with a level of acidity close to neutral. Therefore, if you know that the soil in your area is acidic, then do not forget to add lime or dolomite flour to the soil when planting.
In addition, it is necessary to find out the level of occurrence of groundwater. If they are located close to the soil surface, problems will arise as the tree grows, since the roots of your pear will get wet, as a result, rot, and this will inevitably lead to the death of the plant. The depth of the groundwater should be at least 2.5 meters, otherwise it is recommended to lay a sheet of slate at the bottom of a sufficiently deep planting pit, which will protect the roots of the plant.
The size of the planting pit directly depends on the size of the root system, but the depth and diameter should be at least half a meter.
Before planting the Yeseninskaya pear variety, strengthen a peg in the bottom of the pit that will support your seedling before it fully takes root and gains stability. Then fill the bottom with nutritious soil (a mixture of fertile soil, compost or humus and 0.2 kg of superphosphate) and place a seedling on this mound, spreading its roots. After that, carefully fill the hole with earth, then water and after the soil subsides, add a little more earth. It is not necessary to tamp the earth tightly, you just need to press it a little near the trunk.A seedling attached to a support will feel fairly stable.

If you plant a pear in the autumn, then the plant will not need intensive watering, since the rains will take over this function. But if you prefer spring planting, then it is necessary to regularly water the seedlings so that they take root as soon as possible. In addition, in the morning or evening hours during the first summer, it is necessary to spray the branches of the tree. It is also important to ensure watering of young trees during dry summers. Mature trees are able to withstand short-term drought quite persistently and this does not affect the quality of the crop.
From the second year, fertilizing should be carried out every spring. To prepare a nutrient mixture, you can mix the same amount of rotted manure with compost and dilute the resulting mixture in water (1 kg of the mixture for 2 buckets of water). It is necessary to water the trees with such fertilizer, having previously moistened the soil with plain water.
It is also necessary to pay attention to tree pruning every year in early spring. Remove all frozen, damaged or mechanically damaged branches. You should also cut off the shoots growing deeper into the crown to avoid thickening.
After the ovaries are formed, carefully examine the tree - if the harvest is expected to be very abundant, then part of the ovaries should be removed in advance. Such a procedure will help to improve the quality of the crop and keep the pear branches from damage under the weight of the fruit.
Diseases and pests
The Yeseninskaya pear is quite resistant to diseases, but not a single tree has absolute immunity and there is always a risk of spreading the disease.
If you find signs of scab on a pear tree, you must immediately collect all the leaves under the tree, dig up the soil and, if possible, remove all damaged parts of the plant (you cannot throw them away, just burn them). In the fall, after harvesting, spray the tree with a urea solution (4 or 5%), and in the spring, re-spray, only now using nitrophos.
When fruit rot appears, it makes no sense to process the tree, as this will make healthy fruits unsuitable for food. Collect all fallen pears, collect mummified fruits in autumn and burn everything.
As you know, any problem is easier to prevent than to solve later, therefore, every year it is necessary to pay attention to preventive treatment of trees. This applies not only to diseases, but also to harmful insects.
For diseases, as a prophylaxis, trees are sprayed with Bordeaux liquid. The first time in the spring, when the leaves begin to bloom, but flowering has not yet come, and the second time - in the fall, after all the leaves have flown around. A similar treatment, but only in spring, is carried out with insecticides, which prevent the appearance of harmful insects.
Conclusion
In conclusion, I would like to give some tips from experienced gardeners that will undoubtedly help you maintain a healthy tree and harvest good crops.
The Yeseninskaya pear tolerates winter well, but nevertheless, young trees should be covered by mulching the trunk circle and wrapping the trunk. Sometimes, in especially frosty winters, part of the fruit formations may freeze.
In the process of harvesting, remove the Yesenin pears together with the stalk, then they can be stored for several weeks. Fruit harvested without a stalk will need to be processed in the next couple of days.
Given the early maturity of the tree, the first ovaries may appear after 2 years. So, it is recommended to remove them, the Yeseninskaya pear is still not strong enough and has formed, and the collection of the first harvest must be postponed until next year.
