Pear Bere October was bred by the famous breeder I.V. Michurin's method of crossing two types of pears - wild Ussuri and "Bere Slutskaya". The pear variety Bere Oktyabrya has a number of significant drawbacks, because of which the variety is not very popular among Russian gardeners. Gardeners consider the main disadvantages to be a low level of frost resistance. Nevertheless, even today this variety can be found in gardens, most often in the North-West of Russia.
Pear Bere October: variety description and characteristics
The advantage of the pear variety Bere Oktyabrya is the rapid growth rate of seedlings and trees. The crown of an adult tree of medium thickening. The bark is gray in color with green impurities.
The branches are large, but not thick, slightly curved, mostly brown. On the bark there are many pronounced lentils, rather large in size. The leaf plate is of medium size, deep green in color. It has a rounded and shortly pointed shape, with the same rounded or obtuse teeth and sharp notches between them, along the edge. The plates are weakly folded, thin, located on a long spine with small stipules.
Features of the variety
Bere Oktyabrya pears grow on a long stalk, elongated pear-shaped, with an open calyx and a rather small ribbed funnel. The fruit is green during ripening, which changes to yellow when the fruit is fully ripe. A slightly noticeable blush can often be found in a mature fruit. The flesh of the fruits is white, juicy, coarse-grained, with a sour-sweet taste. The crop can be harvested as early as September.

Pear Bere October shows high yields, according to statistics, the seedling begins to bear fruit for 5-6 years. But the safety of the fruits is small, about 2-3 weeks, no more. The variety has strong immunity against fungal diseases, but it is afraid of low temperatures.
The fruits of the Bere Oktyabrya pear variety look very attractive outwardly, but if they are not removed in time in the tree, they crumble and almost completely lose their presentation.
