Timely collected fruits can be stored in a basement, cellar or refrigerator for 1-1.5 months, this is far from a record storage period, but still pretty good.

The author of the Avgustinka pear variety is the Saratov breeder G.V. Kondratyeva, they got this variety by crossing the pears Lyubimitsa Yakovleva and Rumyanaya Berkut. The tree, as a rule, begins to yield in the fifth or sixth year after planting, within two to three years the yield gradually increases and by the age of eight it achieves excellent results - from one tree you can get up to 30 kilograms of delicious pears. The height of the tree does not exceed three meters, which makes harvesting very convenient.

Pear Augustinka has good immunity and resistance to sudden temperature fluctuations and frost in winter. The Augustink pear variety can be considered a self-fertile variety, that is, the harvest on the tree will be even in the absence of other pears on your site. But if you plant other late summer varieties nearby, blooming at the same time, then the yield of "Augustinka" will noticeably increase.

When planting seedlings, you need to take care of the drainage layer and prepare a nutritious and loose soil by mixing loamy soil with compost, coarse sand and adding a little peat. Such a mixed soil will provide not only good moisture permeability, but also the necessary oxygen access to the roots.

Pears are planted in spring, in the second half of April or early May, or in autumn, at least one and a half months before frost. For a pear, you need to choose a well-lit place, protected from drafts. When planting in spring, the seedling must be watered regularly. If you plant a tree in the fall, the watering regime depends on the weather - if there is enough rainfall, then you do not need to water the tree.

As we said above, the Augustine pear is not a very tall tree. The crown is pyramidal or round, but at the same time spreading. The foliage is grayish-green in color, with a glossy front surface. The leaf plate is slightly bent along the center line, and the top of the leaf is curled slightly. The branches extend from the trunk at almost right angles. The color of the bark on the trunk and branches is gray-brown.

Initially, the Augustinka pear variety was created and recommended for cultivation in the Volga region, but thanks to its excellent characteristics, it gained popularity and love of gardeners throughout the country, therefore it is grown in various regions. With high-quality care of Augustinka pears, you can collect up to 450 centners per hectare.

The Augustink pear variety cannot be unequivocally called demanding or unpretentious. Like all fruit trees, pears require some care, which includes regular watering in the absence of rainfall, top dressing in which potassium-phosphorus fertilizers and a minimum amount of nitrogen are balanced in the right proportions. Every year in the spring, it is necessary to carry out cosmetic pruning, during which all damaged, frost-bitten or broken branches are removed. In addition, it is necessary to form the crown, shortening the fruiting shoots by 1/3. Pruning should always be carried out with very sharp and pre-disinfected tools, and the cut points should be immediately processed with garden varnish.
