Houseplant groups: bulbous, bromeliads, cacti and succulents
Content:
Houseplant groups are diverse and unique. Ornamental deciduous and flowering, bushy and ampelous, lianas and trees and many others. In this article, we will talk about three groups of indoor plants. These are bulbous, bromeliads, as well as cacti and succulents. Perhaps some of the groups of indoor plants already live in your home, and you will hear about some for the first time. But, undoubtedly, they are all beautiful and deserve attention.
Bulbous houseplants

The bulbous group of indoor plants can be found more often in summer cottages or street flower beds than among indoor plants. This is due to the fact that they are better adapted to the conditions of the street. Their rest period is very long (sometimes more than six months). Unlike flowering, which does not last very long. But if you need to get a flowering plant by a certain date, then bulbous ones are irreplaceable. Therefore, every year in flower shops and garden centers you can buy daffodils, tulips, hyacinths and crocuses in pots.
All of these flowers can be grown at home. But this is associated with certain difficulties (digging and storing the bulbs). Therefore, most flower growers prefer not to mess with them. Although among the bulbous plants there are those who feel wonderful all year round in indoor conditions. And with proper care, they bloom not once, but twice a year (and sometimes three).
It is, of course, the eucharis with its bunch of white daffodil-like flowers, the inimitable amaryllis, the gorgeous bright hipperastrum, the long-leaved krinum with stunning flowers, and many others. All bulbous plants are distinguished by a rather fleshy stem, succulent foliage and very beautiful unusual flowers.
Houseplant groups: bromeliads

Representatives of this group of indoor plants are extremely popular, loved by many and perfectly adapted to indoor conditions. Although I do not exclude that the very name of such a group of indoor plants as "bromeliads" some of you heard for the first time. These natives of the tropics are distinguished by very rich color of leaves and wildly bright color of flowers. The leaves are dense, sometimes even prickly, represent a rosette, from the middle of which when the time comes, flowers appear.
If you still cannot imagine this group of indoor plants, remember pineapple - the brightest representative of this group. In addition to pineapple (yes, it is also successfully grown at home!), Among indoor plants, you can find gusmania, ehmeya, vriezia, fasicularia. The most important condition for the comfortable existence of such plants is sufficient air humidity and periodic feeding.
The bromeliad group of indoor plants thrives in direct sunlight, although diffused light is more likely to be preferred. Bromeliads do not bloom immediately, but only for 2-4 years. Flowering lasts several months. But then, unfortunately, the plant dies. You should not worry about this, as this is a natural process. But first, it develops the baby, which can then be separated, thus obtaining a new young flower.
Cacti and succulents

This group of houseplants is a separate universe! Lovers and connoisseurs of cacti collect collections, wait for flowering for years and will not exchange their thorny pets for any other indoor plants. Many people think that a cactus is a plant for lazy people - you can put it in any corner and hardly water it, but this is a delusion. Moderate watering and no watering are two different things.
Cacti require no less reverent attitude towards themselves than any other flowers, despite their prickly brutal appearance. These plants are juicy and fleshy, as nature intended to accumulate and retain moisture (which is why they can survive for quite a long time without water). They do not bloom often. It is always unexpected and very beautiful, and only happens with proper care of the plant.
Succulents, like cacti, are capable of storing moisture. On my first visit to the "Pharmaceutical Garden", it was the exhibition of succulents that made the greatest impression on me. With their unusual shapes, succulents resemble fantastic alien flora. Sometimes it is impossible to believe that in front of your eyes is a plant, and not an object, for example, living stones (lithops). Or duvalia - its flowers can generally be mistaken for a living being. And also gasteria with thick mottled leaves that resemble a tongue.
You can endlessly list plants from this group of indoor plants - monantes, aichrizon, aeonium. And also more familiar to us euphorbia, decorative and flowering kolanchoe and, of course, the famous aloe agave. Believe me, if you decide to devote your time to growing succulents, then the collection of these unusual plants, with proper care, will become the subject of your pride and general admiration.
