Mushrooms in the country: choice of location, types, methods and methods of growing
Content:
When we start talking about picking mushrooms, we usually mean a trip to a wooded area. But is it so convenient for everyone? Some summer cottage areas where mushrooms grow are located far from the forest, but you want to enjoy a delicious product, then what about? That's right - grow mushrooms in the country yourself.
Mushrooms: choosing a place in the garden
Before you start growing mushrooms in the country, you should clearly determine the place where you will plant mushrooms. In general, for what reason do mushrooms by themselves not grow in garden plots? Why can they be found almost always only in the forest? The whole secret consists in the presence of a large number of trees - mushrooms often take root with them, therefore, it is desirable to have at least one or two in a given area. If there are none, it is allowed to plant mushrooms from the side of the building in the shade. Mushrooms love humidity and coolness, so they simply cannot survive in dry and hot places.
What mushrooms are grown
The most accessible and easy to grow at their summer cottage are such types of mushrooms as champignons, oyster mushrooms, porcini mushrooms. Boletus, chanterelles, mushrooms, etc., closer to the wooded area. most likely they will not take root in such conditions, so the resources and labor costs are unlikely to be justified.
So, you should disassemble each view in order:
– Oyster mushrooms according to their harvest, they fall at the end of summer - beginning of autumn, about 0.5 kg of mushrooms come out from one place. Since the mycelium is resistant to cold and frost, digging it out for the winter is not at all necessary. Under favorable conditions, a rich harvest can be harvested for several years.
– Champignons the most popular and widely known in the circles of summer residents due to their unpretentiousness in cultivation. They can take root under almost any tree or shrub, if you try hard and dig up a suitable fruiting mycelium. The mushrooms will benefit from compost pits and manure heaps, the land for cultivation should not suffer from a lack of organic matter. Naturally, a humid environment and a shady location is preferred.
– Porcini mushrooms in the country are a real challenge for interested gardeners. Unlike simple mushrooms and oyster mushrooms, they need a real natural mycelium, which grows under a tree in wildlife - fully formed, annual specimens will not work here at all. Porcini mushrooms are picky in the country and to the neighborhood with fruit plants, therefore, in view of these nuances, the cultivation of this type of mushroom seems to be very difficult.
How to grow mushrooms in the country?
As a rule, there are several ways and methods of growing mushrooms in the country, the simplest of which is to find a fertile mycelium in a wooded area and bring it to the site so that it takes root already there. Usually such myceliums are located near trees, in close proximity to the roots. On average, it is enough to dig 3 centimeters deep in order to dig out part of the mycelium from a developed family. You should not dig up the whole thing, because otherwise, mushrooms will never appear in this place. In order for the mycelium to successfully take root in your area and begin to bear fruit, you must first prepare a layer of straw or sawdust at the place chosen for planting, and only then place the mycelium on it and sprinkle it with straw again. In the best case, if the conditions are met, you can expect a harvest within a month after planting.
A method of growing mushrooms in the country is also used with the transportation of old tree bark affected by mycelium or even a whole stump. The risk and disadvantage of this method is that, in addition to benign and edible mushrooms, poisonous ones can also develop in wood, so be extremely careful with this method. There is an option to plant the mycelium along with the bark in another tree already on the site, and actively water it. The main thing is that the bark of the given tree should be of the same species, otherwise there is a risk of imminent death of the mycelium due to a gross discrepancy.
Self-germination using spores of old and / or already overripe mushrooms is also an effective method. It is necessary to collect such specimens in the forest, then grind well and distribute in the prepared area. Thus, artificially created conditions, to some extent close to forest conditions. A contraindication is the proximity of the growing area to vegetable crops.
A similar method with the preparation of a special solution consists in mixing chopped mushrooms from the forest, flour and gelatin powder. All this is diluted in the conclusion with water. The resulting mixture should be watered in a previously prepared place under the tree. The spores show their activity within about 2 months after the procedure, they form a fungus root and the mycelium begins to bear fruit.
Growing mushrooms in the country is an extraordinary, but quite exciting experience. You can always try yourself in something new, try to experiment with these amazing living organisms, for which you would have had to go to the forest before, look for hiding in the grass, under the foliage of trees and bushes.
