To develop the Polar Bear hydrangea variety, the panicle varieties Grandiflora and Limelight were crossed, which, at the moment, are quite inexpensive due to the emergence of a new perfect variety.
Each individual variety has a number of disadvantages that significantly affect the cultivation. Grandiflora- large gorgeous flowers are formed on the shoots of this bush, but the branches from which a spreading crown is formed are very thin and break under the weight of the inflorescences, especially after rain. For this reason, it is necessary to install additional supports next to the plants. Limelight-tolerates severe frosts, but the flowers are very small and not very attractive. However, their color is very unusual, at first they are painted in a bright pistachio color, and later they become pale pink.
During the crossing of these two varieties, all their merits were taken and transferred to a new variety of panicle hydrangea, Polar Bear. As a result, the new variety is highly resistant to frost, large flowers and bright flowers and large inflorescences, the diameter of which reaches 40 centimeters. Also, the plant is very easy to care for, as it is distinguished by its unpretentiousness. This variety of hydrangea is often used in garden design precisely because of these advantages and for its unusual flowers, which are first in bright pistachio color, and then acquire cream or pink shades. These colors not only make the garden beautiful, but also give it grace.
The panicle hydrangea of the Polar Bir variety begins to bloom in the first days of July, and ends when the frost begins. Its height is 180 centimeters. The inflorescences are evenly distributed over the shrub, making it a lush and uniform bouquet. They are collected from large flowers with a diameter of 3 centimeters and fill the garden with a delicious scent that can make your head spin.

Before planting the Polar Beer panicle hydrangea in the garden, you must first select a suitable site for it. She loves places open to light, so the south side is the best option. The soil should not be calcareous.
Hydrangea paniculata Polar Beer will thrive and bloom well in slightly shaded areas, where the sun's rays will not touch it during the day. For this reason, they can be placed next to buildings or bonsai.
This is an important point that should not be overlooked. The fact is that in the open sun the flowers become smaller, the inflorescences become smaller, and later flowering stops altogether.
Young seedlings during the first year of life must be protected from strong winds. To do this, it will be enough to tie them to the supports for this period.
All varieties of hydrangea, including the paniculata Polar Bir Polar Bear, are constantly watered, since this plant does not tolerate drought.
Hydrangea Polar Bear - Polar Bear - loves rich fertile, moist and well-drained soil. To saturate the earth with the nutrients that the hydrangea needs so much, you need to add there one part of peat, two parts of humus, one part of sand and two parts of leafy soil.
The soil should be of medium acidity, pH5 is sufficient.
Planting Polar Beer hydrangeas in open ground in the south of the country is carried out in the first autumn month, and in cooler ones, planting should be carried out after the threat of frost has completely disappeared, as a rule, in April-May.
Planting holes are made at a distance of one meter from each other, since the branched root system rapidly expands in width and, in the case of dense planting, will not be able to receive a sufficient amount of useful elements.
The hole should be about 50 centimeters deep and 30 centimeters wide. Two weeks before planting the panicle hydrangea, Polar Beer must be filled with peat compost to a third of the hole.
When planting a Polar Beer hydrangea, the root collar must not be allowed to go underground. After the plant is planted, it must be watered abundantly and the soil of the near-stem circle should be slightly loosened.
For irrigation, rainwater or warm water that has settled for several days is used.
Fertilization

Top dressing is carried out 4 times a season. Fertilizers are applied for the first time in early spring. The second time during the period when the buds are formed. Complex fertilizers containing potassium, urea and phosphate are suitable here. After 14 days, you can add the same fertilizer again. This will promote better flowering. Complex fertilizers are used for the third time, but already in July. The procedure is carried out immediately after abundant watering.
The fourth time fertilization is applied in the fall during preparation for winter. Here you need fertilizers based on potassium and phosphorus.
It is important to know that at the end of May - at the beginning of June it is necessary to carry out a special feeding, thanks to which a better formation of inflorescences will occur.
- You can prepare the desired mixture from phosphate, potassium, ammonium nitrate and water in proportions of 20g. x 10 gr. x 10 gr. x 10 l.
- You can also enrich the soil with an infusion of manure dissolved in 10 liters of water and add mineral fertilizers-1 kg to it.
- During the summer, it is advisable to feed the plants with phosphate and potassium 80 g. x 40 gr. for 1 sq. meter.
- The panicle hydrangea Polar Beer responds well to various types of fertilizers.
Given that the Polar Beer hydrangea loves moist soils, it should be watered regularly and abundantly using about 15 liters of liquid on the bush once every seven days. If the weather is rainy outside, it will be enough to water once every 30 days. To make the shoots more durable, you can add potassium permanganate to the water.
To keep moisture in the ground longer, the trunk circle of the bush must be mulched. For this, peat, humus and sawdust are suitable.
It is also important to periodically clear the land of weeds and huddle the bushes to a depth not exceeding 5 centimeters, so as not to injure the root system.
During preparation for winter, the hydrangea must be earthed 20 centimeters in height.
Hydrangea Polar Beer is famous for its large flowers for the sake of gardeners, but in order for them to be many and painted in bright colors, it still needs to be properly cut.
During spring pruning, which is done before the leaves begin to bloom, remove all old branches from the previous year. Garden shears are used to remove more advanced shoots.
When inflorescences are formed, all weak branches and those that have damage are cut off.
In order for the beautiful hydrangea to dress in a magnificent dress consisting of bright and large buds, it is necessary to regularly and abundantly moisten the soil, especially if the weather is hot and dry. If you deprive it of moisture, then the flowering will be dull and unattractive.
It is important to know that the high frost resistance of the Polar Beer panicle hydrangea allows you not to cover it for the period of winter cold. But in the first two years of a plant's life outdoors, it needs hilling and mulching.
Reproduction of hydrangea Polar Beer
