Herbicides - This topic becomes important as soon as it is time to plant a garden or vegetable garden. Weeds are the scourge of all gardeners. The herbicide comes to their aid. This article analyzes the Titus herbicide: how is it useful, how it works, how to use it, what precautions are taken.
Herbicide Titus: description of the drug
An effective way to get rid of weeds in your garden is to plow the land.
But when the planted seeds or saplings germinate, it will no longer be possible to plow the land. And if, when plowing the land, 3-4 centimeters remain from the roots of sow thistle, wheatgrass or purslane, then new plants grow from them.
This is where the herbicide Titus comes to the rescue. It belongs to the category of postemergence herbicides.
This chemical is in the form of granules that dissolve well in water. Contained in small 0.5 kg containers.
The herbicide Titus is used to treat corn, potatoes, and tomatoes. The most annoying and common weeds are afraid of him:
- creeping wheatgrass, sow thistle; ambrosia; nightshade;
- bristle; barnyard; purslane; finger;
- amaranth; buttercup; shepherd's bag; smokehouse;
- field mint; chamomile; wild poppy;
- millet, sow thistle.
The most tenacious of the weeds are sow thistle, wheatgrass and purslane. They have very long roots, reaching a length of 4 meters.
The action of rimsulfuron, which is in the composition of the herbicide Titus, kills weeds (for 1 kg of herbicide - 250 g of rimsulfuron).
What is the basis of the action of the herbicide
Herbicide Titus, getting on the leaves of weeds, inhibits the synthesis of amino acids (valine, isoleucine). This stops the growth and splitting of plant cells. On the fifth day after treatment, you can see signs of weed death:
leaves and stems turn yellow and curl, the appearance of spots, drying of the grass.
The preparation Titus is not harmful to the soil: it decomposes quickly. It also quickly decomposes into non-toxic substances on the leaves of cultivated plants, without bringing them any harm.
The protective effect of the drug lasts from 14 to 28 days.
The tool can be used simultaneously with other drugs, except for organophosphates.
Note: If necessary, Titus herbicide can be used in a mixture with surfactant Trend 90 (200 ml / ha). This mixture increases the strength of the herbicide's action on the weeds.
Why the herbicide Titus is better than other similar drugs
The advantage of the herbicide Titus over others is:
- the speed of penetration into the plant, after three hours of treatment, the sediments will no longer reduce the effect of the drug;
- economical consumption;
- excludes processing before sowing seeds and after their germination;
- has an effective effect regardless of the state of the earth: dry or wet;
- easy use;
- goes well with bucksmiths;
- half-life in the ground about 10 days;
- not dangerous for cultivated plants;
- easy to transport and store;
- not dangerous for people, animals and bees.
Herbicide Titus: instructions for use
When 2-4 leaves appear in annual weeds and at 10-15 centimeters in perennials or a rosette appears in a sow thistle, they should be treated with the drug.
When three leaves appear, tomato seedlings are sprayed twenty days after planting in the ground. This is usually done once at a time. If there are a lot of weeds, then the treatment can be repeated after 10-20 days. For the reprocessing of potatoes and corn, the consumption rate of the drug is halved, but for tomatoes it remains the same.
Processing is carried out with a solution.The granules are dissolved in water in this way: first, a small amount of water is poured into the sprayer. Dissolve the required amount of granules in it. Stir thoroughly. Then add water to the top without interrupting stirring. The consumption rate is as follows: 200-250 liters per hectare.
Make a new solution for each treatment.
For corn treatment, Titus herbicide consumption: 40 grams per hectare for removing annual weeds and 50 grams for mixed annual and perennial weeds. In case of severe clogging, the consumption is 60 g per hectare.
If a two-time treatment is required, then first, 30 grams per hectare is consumed, and the second time - 20 grams per hectare.
For processing tomatoes, consumption is 50 grams per hectare. During the second treatment, the rate does not change.
For processing potatoes, the consumption of funds: 50 grams per hectare. Spraying is carried out after hilling. If it is necessary to treat twice the first time, the herbicide consumption is 30 g, the second time - 20 g per hectare.
Do not process after rain. For two weeks after treatment, do not weed by hand and do not carry out any mechanical work.
Note... The herbicide was also used in military strategy. So the United States used Agent Orange during the war in Vietnam.
