Content:
Gemaria is a houseplant belonging to the group of so-called precious orchids, and in this article we will just explain why this is so. Gemaria attracts flower growers, gardeners and landscape designers because it has incredibly decorative leaves - they are dense, oval in shape, while their tops are slightly pointed upwards, which also gives the plant some peculiarity and originality. The surface of the leaves themselves is quite velvety, and as for the color, it turns out to be brown with a green tint, which, of course, also complements the overall picture, and the plant looks attractive both in group and in single plantings. On the leaves of Gemaria, right in the middle is a silvery vein, which has the effect of radiance, and thanks to this, hemaria has gained popularity just as a plant that looks great in a flower bed and decorates it.
This article is devoted to what characteristics and features the houseplant has multi-colored hemaria, its description. We will also dwell in more detail on the specifics of plant care, as well as on how hemaria multiplies in modern floriculture. All the information presented is facts that were given by experienced gardeners, so it will be of interest to both beginners and those who already have experience in growing such plants, but the gardener seeks to expand their knowledge and experience.
Orchid description

Gemaria is most often found in our realities as a shrub, the leaves of which are distinguished by their burgundy-brown color. At the same time, the flowers of the plant are completely nondescript and non-decorative, so it cannot be said that they attract someone from the florists. But it is the appearance of the bush that is why flower growers often acquire this culture and praise it. Hemaria can bloom even in winter, while the plant can calmly transfer its location in the northern part of the room, on the northern window, since in general one of the features of hemaria is that it can not tolerate too bright sunlight, not to mention direct sunlight.
The indoor plant hemaria multi-colored grows well in greenhouse conditions, and if artificial lighting lamps are installed there, then hemaria will only be grateful to gardeners for this. In this case, the lighting should last for 12 hours, and this light will be ideal and optimal for planting. For the rest, it cannot be said that this bush shows some whimsicality, and it certainly cannot be said that hemaria is a capricious landing.
As for the concept of "greenhouse", then ideally for a hemaria orchid, a cabinet is suitable, the height of which will be about one and a half meters, but the width is no more than 60 centimeters. It can accommodate about three shelves, on each the florist installs two fluorescent lamps - one lamp on each side of the shelf so that hemaria receives illumination from both sides. On the shelves, pallets are also displayed, into which the moistened expanded clay is placed. The greenhouse should be covered, ideally - it is either glass or plastic.
Gemaria: home care and cultivation

Gemaria is very different from epiphytic orchids, and therefore the soil in which the hemaria grows must perfectly retain moisture, because the plant needs it most of all. Therefore, in addition to adding pieces of bark, coals and moss to the soil, it is recommended to add some peat to the substrate. Thanks to this composition, the plant will feel much more comfortable and better, and therefore it is highly likely that hemaria will retain its decorative properties and features even if it suddenly finds itself in not the most favorable conditions for itself.
The houseplant Gemaria should be watered much more frequently than other orchids from other species families. It is recommended to periodically spray hemaria with very soft water, which is still being settled before. It is also best if this water is either melted, or rain, or boiled, because it contains a minimum amount of negative substances or microorganisms that could harm hemaria. Top dressing is also an important aspect in plant care. Usually fertilizers are applied in winter, this is done once a month, after which the hemaria is left alone. In the summer, the fertilizing schedule is slightly different - at this time, during the growth period, fertilizing is applied approximately once every 10-14 days. Again, a lot depends on the general condition of the plant, on how calmly it endured the winter, as well as on how old the plant is at the time when the gardener prescribes feeding.
Usually, in order to make a full-fledged fertilizer under the hemaria orchid, it is worth taking fertilizers specially prepared for orchid plants. Usually this fertilizer is Greenworld, as well as Kemira-plus, since they contain all those substances and trace elements that are so necessary for this plant for the growth, development and preservation of their decorative features and characteristics. It is recommended to prepare the solution in about several times lower concentration than it was originally stated in the instructions for use, since in general it should be borne in mind that hemaria is a plant with its own specificity and peculiarity, and some differences and frameworks should also be observed in relation to , what fertilizers and in what quantity are applied to the soil that surrounds the plant.
The flowers of the indoor plant hemaria multi-colored itself are very small in size, but at the same time they can emit a rather attractive aroma. And so, hemaria is more famous for its decorative properties precisely due to the brightness and incredible attractiveness of the leaves. In general, the bush looks great both in group planting and in a single plant, as it is in perfect harmony with many other flower and shrub crops, therefore, in general, hemaria has great popularity and clear superiority among many other flower and shrub ornamental crops.

It is worth talking a little about the reproduction of the hemaria orchid. As a rule, a cutting from a plant is placed in a glass of water, and sent to the warmest place in the house. You can also lightly cover the stalk with a mosquito net to protect it from attacks from bacteria, pests and insects.
During the day, the air temperature should be at least 25-30 degrees, so that the plant can easily adapt and take root. At night, it is enough to maintain the temperature at 25 degrees. When rooting, you should not add any substances directly to the water, since this interference may cause growth to deteriorate slightly, and in more natural conditions, hemaria will feel much better. One has only to regularly change the water in the glass and monitor its purity, since microorganisms and bacteria can form in the water, which negatively affect the general condition of the plant. Within two weeks (sometimes even a little earlier), the stalk will begin to gradually take root, which just indicates that the plant is healthy, and it is worth continuing to monitor it so that the root system develops in accordance with the norms.
If suddenly the stalk could not root in the water, then you can use another method - for example, use sphagnum moss, which is perfect for propagating the hemaria orchid by cuttings. At the same time, the moss must be moistened almost all the time, but at the same time it should not be too wet. If we allow the moss to be wet, this will lead to the fact that the root system and the cuttings themselves as a whole begin to rot, and here we are already talking about normal development as a whole. Sometimes the stem system can stretch up very strongly, in which case it is recommended to trim the hemaria. But you should not cut the stems all at once - it is best to do this gradually, removing one stem at a time, so that the plant does not experience too much stress.
Thanks to pruning hemaria, young shoots will be able to move away from the root part, and the plant will become even more luxuriant and, accordingly, more attractive. Stems that have just been cut should be rooted and transplanted into the same environment, they will feel comfortable. In fact, this is all you need to know about the hemaria houseplant, about its specific features and characteristics, and, of course, about its reproduction and subsequent care.
