Phlox planting and caring for unusual flowers
Content:
Phlox are very beautiful flowers, the aroma from them is impeccable, and the view is delightful. In fact, growing phlox is very easy.
Phlox: planting and care in spring
The phlox planting site is perhaps the most important part for planting phlox. The site must be found such that the rays of the sun must fall on it. Before planting phlox, the soil must be fertilized. It is advisable to choose acidic soil. If you want strong and beautiful plants, this can be done easily with the help of manure, humus, matured compost, ash, mineral fertilizers. The plant should be planted in the spring, at the beginning of May. For planting phloxes, the distance between them must be taken into account. It should be forty-five to fifty-five centimeters. However, this is quite individual because the varieties are completely different and require certain methods. In the first year, the flowers will delay flowering by almost two weeks, but from next year they will begin to bloom on time. Phlox flowers can also be transplanted, but this should be done carefully with abundant watering.
Phlox: flower care
In fact, phlox is very easy to plant, not much care is required, and the result is very impressive.
Phlox are those plants that love moisture. But at the same time, they do not like stagnation of water in the ground (exactly where the bulk of their roots are located). That is, they cannot be poured. It is impossible to plant phlox if the groundwater is located on the site closer than fifteen centimeters to the surface of the earth. If they are planted there, the plants will die due to lack of oxygen.
These flowers require special care. You need to know and observe the following points:
Watering
As mentioned earlier, phloxes are moisture-loving plants. One square meter accounts for one and a half to two liters of water. It is necessary to water the plants in the morning or evening. Do not water their plants in the same way, otherwise bacteria can easily be transmitted from any diseased plants to others. Therefore, it is worth watering only the soil.
Mulching
This is one of the best ways to keep moisture in the ground. Mulch the soil under the bushes in a layer six to eight centimeters. This can be done with peat, humus, and dried grass. At the same time, you need to loosen the ground.
Pruning
Experienced gardeners advise cutting phlox very shortly. This should be done around the middle - end of October.
Top dressing and fertilizers
Every year you need to apply mineral fertilizers to the ground. Top dressing is also important for phlox. It should be done about five times in one season. We do the first fertilizing from mineral fertilizers immediately after the snow has melted. We make the second feeding from the mullein in the middle - end of May. The third top dressing is potassium sulfate, which will need ten grams per bucket of water. In the fourth feeding, add about thirteen grams of phosphate fertilizer. We do the last feeding with the help of phosphorus-potassium fertilizers immediately after the plants have faded.
Phlox varieties
Plants such as phlox have a wide variety of varieties. But here are the most basic ones:
- Alexander Immer - a variety in which flowers have a diameter of about three centimeters. Color: crimson, tone: uniform. The height of the bush is up to fifty centimeters.
