Near flowers that have a bright color of their petals, on which, moreover, there are specks of a different color, no one can just walk by and not admire this beauty. In this article, we will consider how it will be correct to grow and care for the Milky Way violet variety so that they can delight the eyes for quite a long time.
Violet Milky Way: variety description and characteristics
It should be noted right away that this subspecies also includes such widespread and striking species as "EK-Milky Way", "AE-Milky Way" and "H-Milky Way". Each of this variety has its own admirers, and their distinctive features are quite clearly visible externally.
Those plants that received the prefix AE in their name, thanks to their creator - breeder Evgeny Arkhipov, have leaves of a dark shade and there are a small number of them on the plant. This feature is due to the fact that the peduncles of this culture are formed regularly and without interruption, and this, accordingly, requires a lot of effort from the culture. The flowers have semi-double or double petals in their structure and have their main difference in a bright plum shade with spots scattered over the entire surface of saturated color. Such flowers can reach a diameter of about 70 millimeters, although the true size depends entirely on the number of peduncles on the bush.
Plants, which received the prefix H in their name, in honor of their creator - breeder N. Berdnikov, have flowers, in which the petals also have a semi-double or double structure and can grow up to 40 millimeters in diameter. The color of such petals is deep blue, and on the surface of this main color there are specks of pink hue, which go straight from the very center of the flower to the edge.
Plants with the EK prefix also have flowers of a fairly large size (they can grow up to 60 millimeters in diameter). But unlike the above species, this variety has the lightest color, and the blue color of its petals is also added by milky stains. Plus, along the edge of the petals, there is a fringe endowed with a light green color.
Features of the variety
Despite what species this variety belongs to, the flowering period of the violet Milky Way begins about 8 months later, after planting the cuttings in the soil. This flowering continues for about three weeks and this flowering ends with a small break. In a plant in adulthood, new flower stalks are regularly formed, plus a very large number of stepsons are formed, which interfere with the flowering of the plant, which is why they need to be removed in a timely manner. When a sport appears, that is, a plant that has undergone a vegetative mutation, you can see dark purple petals on the flowers, and the spots themselves in this case are completely absent on such petals.

It is believed that the milky Way violet variety is rather capricious in its care, therefore, if you decide to grow this plant, then you need to prepare for timely and high-quality care for it.It is necessary to create optimal conditions for this plant, otherwise this flower will spend all its energy on the formation of a green mass, and not on the formation of peduncles. The main thing in caring for such a flower is to create sufficient and correct lighting for it, high-quality and timely watering, top dressing and rejuvenation procedures, and control over the optimal temperature regime. Let's consider all these conditions of detention in more detail.
- Lighting
The Violet Milky Way variety is quite capricious in terms of the quantity and quality of lighting. This plant does not like shaded places, but direct sunlight can also harm the flower. The best option for the location of containers with this plant will be a window sill located on the west or east side of the house. As for the south side, you will have to shade the plant a little at midday so that the plant does not get burned. Daylight hours for this subspecies are about 13 hours, therefore, in the evening hours, you should give the flower additional lighting, then it will delight you with an abundant and bright color.
- Temperature
It is worth noting that the violet of the Milky Way is considered a rather thermophilic culture, therefore the best temperature regime for it is 21-23 degrees Celsius. For this plant at a young age, a higher air temperature will be a good option, since the sockets will then begin to form faster. But for plants in adulthood, high air temperatures can be dangerous, on the contrary, experienced gardeners advise to reduce the temperature regime in winter, by about 2-3 degrees. With a rather long stay of this violet in a room with a low air temperature, it may stop growing or simply die. +16 degrees will be a fatal mark for this plant. It is also worth saying that when a violet of the Milky Way variety is found in winter on a cold windowsill, hypothermia of the root system can occur, as a result, the flower can also die.
- Watering
It should be noted right away that the Milky Way violet variety is watered only with settled water for three days, and the liquid should be at room temperature. Watering frequency will vary depending on how quickly the topsoil dries. When watering, you should pay attention to the fact that water does not get on the bush itself, otherwise, this will lead to the development of disease and rot. If you have insufficient air humidity, especially in the winter season, then you can put a jar of clean water next to the plant. The spraying procedure for this flower is not worth it, this can lead to sad consequences.
- Top dressing
High-quality and regular feeding has a pretty good effect on this variety of violets. Top dressing for this plant is applied approximately twice every 4 weeks, as a good option would be to combine such dressings with the watering procedure. It is worth noting that nitrogen is required for the formation of a green mass for this flower, and phosphorus and potassium should be added to set the buds.
Violet Milky Way: flower care
- Transfer
As the Milky Way Violet grows, it should be transplanted to another location. This procedure is best performed in the autumn or spring period of the year. Experienced gardeners advise using a transshipment method, for which a special soil is used. It can be purchased at any flower shop. The size of the container for the transplant is selected as medium, since in a large-sized pot the flower will not be able to give active growth and intense, abundant flowering. This is all because the flowering of this plant begins when its roots fill all the free space of the container. That is why it will be better with a little tightness of the flower. The transplant is carried out in this way: first, a small layer of drainage is poured onto the bottom of the tank.A good option would be to drain the ceramic shards from the dishes. A small layer of soil is poured over it, after which a bush is placed and the rest of the free space is also filled with soil. After that, the transplanted flower should be watered and placed in a place with partial shade, literally for several days, so that the violet can calmly take root and get used to the new conditions.
- Rejuvenation
Just like other plants, the violet of the Milky Way has a constant growth. Therefore, after a while, the lower part of the stem may lose its leaves, respectively, the decorative qualities of the flower are lost. To avoid this, it is recommended to rejuvenate the plant. To do this, this plant is carefully taken out of the container, and its lower part of the leaves is carefully removed. After that, it is required to remove one third of the clod of earth, and put the plant in a new, previously prepared container. Further, the violet of the Milky Way is covered with soil, approximately to the level of the lower foliage. It will be great if you add top dressing, such as Kornevin, to the soil, and then the container with the flower is placed in a warm place. After a few days, new roots are formed, after which the flower can already be put in its original place. It is worth saying that this procedure for the Milky Way violet variety is considered quite necessary, according to experienced gardeners, since it can renew a flower and give it the opportunity to delight you with its intense growth and development, as well as lush color.
