Fragrant tobacco: plant description
Fragrant tobacco is not a source of a bad habit, as one might first think. This is a flower. The inflorescences are very voluminous and fragrant. Flowers come in different shades. The foliage is bright green.
Fragrant tobacco: optimal care parameters
This plant can grow almost anywhere, because it very easily adapts to the surrounding conditions. It can grow both in brightly lit areas and in semi-huddled areas. But still, he may not like too dark a shadow, but if it is light and diffused, or under large trees, he will feel quite comfortable.
Its inflorescences are: white, bright pink, crimson, sour green, deep red. Feels great in the southern flower beds.
He also has no special requirements for the soil. It just needs to be slightly fertile. You do not need to fertilize the soil before planting. And an excessive amount of nitrogen and organic fertilizers can even adversely affect its development. If the soil is very poor or depleted, then it can be fed with organic humus or compost. The only important detail that should be present is the drainage layer.
How to take care of scented tobacco
This plant is not well treated in arid conditions. He needs stable and abundant watering. The soil should hold moisture slightly. How often to water the crop, you need to decide on the amount of precipitation and drying out of the soil. The best time for watering is morning and evening, so a slight degree of moisture will always remain in its soil.
Fertilize it not very generously. In order for its flowering to be long, lush and voluminous, you need to feed it just a couple of times. The first time you can feed at the stage of bud formation, and the second time - when they have already begun to bloom. Fertilize with a universal complex mineral fertilizer for decorative flowering plants. You need to add it to the watering liquid.
Already wilted inflorescences do not interfere with the formation of new ones. Therefore, it makes no sense to cut them off. The culture will continue to form inflorescences. But due to the fact that the flowers are quite large and bright, faded elements will be clearly visible, and perhaps they will spoil the decorative appearance of the plant.
This culture is distinguished by its resistance to various diseases and insect pests. He also introduces fungicidal elements into the soil on which it grows, which in turn serves as a prophylaxis for his neighbors and followers.
Breeding rules
This plant can only be propagated with seeds. In general, it can multiply independently, after flowering, but it is not a fact that after winter, such seeds will retain their germination. But even if they survive and grow, they will begin to bloom later than the rest.
It is best to grow it yourself as a seedling. You need to sow seeds in the middle of spring, without planting them too deep. The soil should be light and nutritious. A favorable temperature for seedlings is the range from eighteen to twenty degrees Celsius. After planting, the container with future seedlings must be covered with a transparent film to create a greenhouse effect. Periodically, it needs to be ventilated, and the soil should be moistened. As the first shoots begin to appear, the temperature must be lowered to sixteen degrees Celsius.
For still young seedlings, abundant watering may end badly. Water them very carefully and in moderation. As soon as the second pair of foliage forms on the sprouts, this means that they can be planted in individual pots. It is possible to transplant into open ground at the end of the spring period, but it is important to harden the plant before that, that is, it should be in the open space of the street for fourteen days.
You can also sow seeds directly into the ground, but this method is not as productive, and the plant will bloom much later. This can be done only after you are sure that there will be no more frosts and the cold has receded.
