Fragrant tobacco: planting and care in the open field
This plant cannot be called whimsical and requires a lot of attention. The plant prefers warmth, try to find a warm enough place. Prepare the seedlings before planting the scented tobacco outdoors. At the end of winter, having picked up the variety you like, it is possible to start the process of sowing seeds, which must be moved into a small vessel. Place glass on top of it or cover with a thick layer of film.
Due to the small size of the planting material, namely the seeds, there is no need to bury them in the soil, lightly sprinkle them over the garden bed, and then use a spray bottle with warm and settled water. Watch the temperature, which should be around twenty degrees. To speed up the germination of seeds, place them in boiling water and then in cheesecloth. The soil is prepared in advance.Purchase peat, humus, and garden soil.
Usually, the sprouts are visible after about ten to fourteen days. Transfer them to separate containers.
In early summer, seedlings are planted in open ground. During this time, the soil temperature will be appropriate. The space between the sprouts should be at least thirty to fifty centimeters, it depends on the type of tobacco you choose. Dig up the soil before planting this plant. Do not forget to moisten the soil and apply fertilizers, preferably organic. There should be superphosphate in the landing hole. The sprouts are transplanted together with the earthen clod.
Decorative tobacco has no particular preference on what land it grows on. Due to the large leaves, we recommend planting in soil with high moisture levels. It is also recommended to create a drainage layer and a regular watering schedule.
Caring for scented tobacco
Remember that the plant is photophilous, which means there should be a lot of sunlight in a permanent place, but there should be no strong and cold winds. The flowering process occurs in the summer and lasts three months. Remove damaged or dried parts of the plant to lengthen the flowering process. Top up twice a month. This will help extend the flowering process into mid-fall. Inflorescences open in the evening, and close early in the morning.
After the flowering process, fruits are formed on it, in which the seeds are located. Planting material for the next year.
The level of resistance of "scented" tobacco to parasites and diseases is high. One of the features of this plant is the repelling factor of parasites not only from themselves, but also from their green neighbors.
