Valuable tips for organizing a nursery garden
Content:
Based on my own experience, as well as on the experience of sisters, children and nephews, I can say with confidence that sooner or later every child will ask for a personal garden bed. Because he wants to plant and grow himself, because he is sure that he will have the richest harvest, not like yours! Do not extinguish this initiative, support the child, because your task is to help him learn the world, and the children's garden will help you with this
How to organize a nursery garden?
For a start, it is probably worth making one children's bed, not very wide, so that it is convenient for the child to manage it. Go to the store together and get his first personal tools: a handy spatula, a rake, a bucket and a beautiful variegated watering can. Choose the best sunny spot together and prepare the ground. The child wants to plant seeds in the children's garden and get the result as soon as possible, perhaps he will not appreciate the importance of the preparatory work. And here you will have to be patient and, along the way, explain to him the importance of carefully digging up the soil, removing stones and roots, and applying the necessary fertilizers. Along the edge of the children's bed, you can fence off a side or a low plastic fence - and it is beautiful, and the earth will not crumble. Now that everything is ready, you can discuss the landing.
Children's bed: what to plant?
If children do not see the result, then they become uninteresting, and they switch to another activity. Therefore, it is necessary to choose crops that grow quickly, the child likes their taste, and that can grow in the same child's bed. Tell us that zucchini don't get along with pumpkin, and dill is only friends with cabbage (by the way, don't plant dill, it's really very unfriendly). It can be explained by the example of a kindergarten or school - there, too, not everyone gets along with each other ...
Stop your choice on a radish - it can coexist with anyone and ripens before everyone else (this is important to maintain interest). Plant beets - they are beautiful, unpretentious and conflict-free. And also a turnip, it grows quite quickly and will bring an element of a fairy tale into the process - will it be possible to grow a big, big one? Then side by side carrots and onions - they will drive away pests from each other. Carrots, unfortunately, take a very long time to sprout, but the onions will begin to peek out of the ground in a few days. Add 3-4 strawberry bushes - the berries from your garden are the sweetest. Do not forget about the peas: soak the seeds together, watch how they germinate (along the way explaining to the child what and how) and then plant. It grows quickly, does not cause trouble, and everyone likes the fruits. And you can also add flowers to the children's bed - for example, calendula and marigolds. In addition to the decorative function, they will also protect the children's garden from pests.
Responsibility
After everything is selected and planted, the most interesting, but also the most difficult thing begins - caring for the seeds in the children's garden. Not all children are ready to regularly weed the garden, at first you will need to be sure to participate in the process, at least in order to help distinguish a cultivated plant from a weed. The radish will ripen - the first result will appear, then the first strawberries will ripen. Be prepared for the fact that by the middle of summer your child will get tired and lose interest in the garden. Explain that without watering and weeding, the children's bed can die, instill a sense of responsibility, but do not press in any way. First of all, this is his experiment, his game, he is the main one.Or maybe the other way around - he will like the whole process so much that next year he will ask to allocate twice as much land for his nursery beds in the garden!
