Black currant Kreolka belongs to varieties with an average ripening time, it was obtained at the All-Russian Research Institute of Breeding of Fruit Crops from combining such black currant varieties as “Sweet Belarusian” and “Sunderbyun 2”, as well as “zusha”, Thanks to the work of a group of specialists in breeding T. P. Ogoltsova and S. D. Knyazev. This variety of black currant has been undergoing government trials since 2004.

The Creole currant shrub is usually of medium size, the spreading is rated as medium and the density is rated as ordinary. Growing branches of ordinary thickness, light green color, along there is a bright anthocyanin color, grow straight, glossy. Lignified branches are rather thin, gray and brown in color at the same time, not glossy, on the top there is a brownish matte color. Buds are small in size, oblong, alternate, in a single copy, the upper part is pointed, the color is slightly anthocyanin, there are villi, slightly away from the branch. The upper part is not free, there are small buds nearby, about one or two, underdeveloped. The leaf scar is rounded or wedge-shaped.

The foliage with five lobes, medium in size, light green, not glossy, does not have any irregularities, with small villi, with an almost curved leaf blade, which is concave along the main veins, has an anthocyanin color at the base of the leaf blade. The main blade has a sharp triangular shape, elongated, there are much more blades located on the sides, additional notches are not pronounced. The blades located at the edges are short, with sharp tips, the tops are directed towards the main blade, the angle to the main blade is less than ninety degrees. The basal lobes are usually pronounced, the veins facing the lobes located on the sides. The base of the plate has a completely open, shallow recess. The serration is small with blunt tips, the petiole is of medium size, has a color, is located under a sharp corner to the branch.

The flowers of the Creole currant variety are large, cupped in shape, the color of the sepals is pale pinkish, they are located freely. The brush is medium in size, rather curved, high density, the axial part is medium in size, there is an anthocyanin color.

Yield characteristics

Creole currant berries are large in size, most often the mass of one berry reaches one and a half grams, the shape is oval or round, the color is black, weak glossy, comes off the fruit stem without sap, with an ordinary number of seeds. The peel is thin in density, the calyx is medium-sized, completely closed, the fruit stem is medium-sized, the color is green, there is an anthocyanin color, as well as some villi.
