Black currant Rich has a medium-late ripening period, was obtained at the Far Eastern Experimental Station VIR by crossing the variety "339/9" and a mixture of pollen of such varieties as "daughter of a giant", "achievement" and "champion of carter", thanks to the work breeding specialist N.M. Bochkarnikova. The rich black currant variety was added to the state register in 1990 and approved for use in the Far East region.

Black currant Rich has a strong growth rate, branches are quite massive, thickening is estimated as medium, the shrub takes up little space on the site. The branches are quite thick, growing straight.
