How to feed tomatoes after planting in a greenhouse
Content:
In all regions of our country, gardeners love to grow tomatoes. However, due to the love of these vegetables for high temperatures, they cannot be grown outdoors everywhere. In central Russia, it will be preferable to grow them in greenhouses, where they will be comfortable and they will give a good harvest. Our favorite vegetables prefer well-drained, soft and fertile, moderately moist soils. If the soil is not suitable for growing this crop, you can improve the situation and feed the tomatoes. As a rule, due to the correct selection of fertilizers, you can significantly increase the yield.
As for the seedlings, you need to be very careful with it when transplanting and help it adapt to new conditions.
How to feed tomato seedlings after planting in a greenhouse
Two weeks after you have planted the seedlings in the greenhouse, you need to please them with the first feeding. If you choose to schedule how you feed your plants, you will avoid unnecessary intervention or omission. Also, you will never get confused what kind of fertilizer to apply at this stage of growth. After all, there are three types of fertilizers that will definitely be needed, these are organic, mineral and, of course, folk.
Folk ways to fertilize tomatoes in a greenhouse
Yeast
Gardeners are very fond of using yeast solutions, as they are sure that they promote vigorous growth. But it turns out that such a solution copes very well with harmful fungi, killing them with the help of beneficial bacteria that it contains.
It is quite simple to prepare such a solution. It is necessary to mix 10 grams of yeast with 0.5 liters of water and 1.5 teaspoons of sugar. Leave for 3-4 hours, then dilute in 5 liters of water. Pour 0.5 liters under each bush. You can feed tomatoes with this method every two weeks.
Iodine
Of course, iodine solution can be an excellent option for fertilization. Thanks to him, the plants become stronger.
One drop of iodine in three liters of water is enough and each bush is poured with 0.4 liters of such a solution to give strength to the tomatoes. You can also use the solution during the flowering period, it will be a good stimulant. It is important to know that when feeding for the second and third time, the iodine concentration should be increased by 3 times.
Herbal infusions
As for herbal infusions, they can both feed and mulch plants. The main thing is to remove the grass in time, after all the nutrients are absorbed.
It is very simple to prepare such a solution. Place fresh grass in any container and cover with water. When the fermentation process begins, your solution will be ready and saturated with the necessary vitamins and minerals. Water the plants between the rows as well. It's nice to know that this solution not only nourishes the plants, but also protects them from parasites.
Ammonia
Feeding tomatoes with ammonia as fertilizer is a great way to give the plant plenty of nitrogen. Nitrogen contributes to good green mass gain.
This solution can be prepared by diluting two tablespoons of ammonia in 10 liters of water. Each bush must be watered with 0.5 liters.
How to properly feed tomatoes with organic fertilizers
Ash
In order for the plants to please us with a good set of their green mass, it is necessary to saturate them with nitrogen after transplanting into the greenhouse. For this, ash is just perfect. It is also perfect as a foliar and root fertilizer.
However, please note that it is absolutely impossible to put ash in the holes before planting the seeds, as the seeds can burn themselves. The ash solution activates growth and helps the plant when the leaves wither.
Chicken droppings
This fertilizer, fresh or rotted, is well suited for autumn soil preparation. Also, having made a solution from it, you can water the bushes with it immediately after planting in the greenhouse. To do this, you need to weigh fresh droppings one in a hundred, or rotted manure one in fifty.
Mullein
This fertilization method is no different from chicken manure. It is also used in the preparation of land in the fall and when feeding seedlings.
To feed the tomatoes, dilute the manure with water one in ten. Remember that after watering, fertilizers penetrate the soil much better, which means they bring results.
Compost
No gardener will give up compost when working with their plants. Of course, because it has a large amount of trace elements and can be used in any period of growth.
Compost is used both in dry form, sending it into the soil by about 5 centimeters at the rate of 4 kg per square meter or in liquid form.
To prepare the solution, the compost must be filled with water two to one, let it brew for three days. By adding nettles to such a solution, you will protect your plants from diseases.
How to feed tomatoes with mineral fertilizers
Of course, for the good development of plants and tomatoes, one cannot do without mineral fertilizers. Bushes need fertilizers containing phosphorus, potassium and nitrogen and should be applied for the first time when they are planted in a greenhouse.
A solution for 10 liters of water should contain the ingredients: 25 grams of nitrogen, 15 grams of potassium and 40 grams of phosphorus.
If you have no desire or experience in preparing a solution, you can always purchase the necessary components in a specialized store. They contain a large amount of mineral fertilizers with a whole range of important microelements such as zinc, boron, iron, etc. It will not be difficult to prepare a solution from them, all that is required is to follow the instructions on the package.
Nitrofoska is another fertilizer that is very popular among gardeners. The composition of this fertilizer is ideal for tomatoes and can be used throughout the entire growing period. Helps protect against fungi.
The use of boron will help improve your harvest and get mouth-watering, fleshy fruits. It makes no sense to water the roots with a boron solution, it is enough to spray the bushes once during flowering.
You should know that if the bushes do not want to grow after planting in the greenhouse, then you need to help them. Immunocytophyte will be able to save the situation, as it promotes the activation of growth. It also protects plants from fungal diseases.
So what kind of fertilizer to choose to get a good harvest? The answer is simple. Use all three fertilizers alternately.
Diseases and pests
Late blight, black leg - plants are often susceptible to these diseases. Tomatoes are also prone to spots and rot, but much less often. Rot appears if the plants are poorly cared for and do not control the stagnation of water in the soil, are over-fertilized with substances with a high nitrogen content, and even due to temperature differences.
You can avoid diseases by choosing the right seeds. Check with a specialist if the seed has immunity to the fungus. By treating the seeds in a 1% solution of potassium permanganate, leaving them there for 10 or 15 minutes, you will do a good prevention. Other chemicals from specialty stores will work as well.
If it was not possible to avoid the fungus, it will be necessary to dry the soil and loosen it well. It is also necessary to remove the affected bushes and process all other plants. For this, Bordeaux liquid copper sulfate is suitable. The soil should be treated with other chemicals that are sold in the store.
