How and what to feed gooseberries in spring

In the spring, it is necessary to feed the shrub when it has released the first shoots.

For feeding, there are the following options:

1. Manure is poured under the bush in a layer of 7-9 cm and placed so that it does not come into close contact with the roots and does not touch the shoots. The bush will be constantly soaked with fertilizer until the very autumn period. But this method has a significant disadvantage - harmful bacteria and fungi may be present in the manure, which can worsen the condition of the shrub; in the future, it will take time for special treatment.
2. Manure can be replaced with humus. The laying process is the same as in the first method, only the plus of humus is that it will cause less damage to the plant. But so that the nitrogenous bases do not evaporate from the fertilizer so quickly, sprinkle it with a small amount of soil or peat.
3. Also, bird droppings are used to feed gooseberries. It must be mixed with water in a ratio of 1:12, where 1 is kg of droppings, and 12 is liters of water. Manure is mixed with water in a ratio of 1:10. The bushes are treated with this tool for 7 days, after which the mixture is decanted and the roots are smeared with it.

You need to mix:
1 liter of whey
1 tsp Sour cream,
1 tbsp. l. Honey and 1 liter. Water.
10 g yeast
After the resulting consistency is added to 10 liters of water. The infusion should stand for 7 days in a dark place. Then 0.5 liters of the mixture is diluted with water and the bushes are watered.

3 way
Use 20 g of urea per bucket of water. Stir the mixture until completely dissolved.

4 way
Pour 1 kg of nettles and dandelions into a bucket and cover with water. Let stand for a week and water the roots.

Tip: Do not feed flowers, as you can harm and spoil the entire future harvest.

This issue is very controversial among summer residents. If you are late with feeding and miss the right time, then the berries can significantly lose their taste. If you suddenly cannot fertilize the bushes on time, then it is better not to do this at all.

How to feed gooseberries in summer

You need to feed the bushes at a time when the fruits are just beginning to appear. During this period, the plant gives all its strength to growth, which means that a large amount of nutrients go into the berries. Help from the outside will not be a hindrance to gooseberries now. It is best to saturate the bushes with potassium and phosphorus. Nitrogen is no longer needed as much as during the growing season; it can be added in small doses. You can fertilize with Superphosphate. Fertilizer is taken about 70 g per 1 adult bush. You need to use fertilizer if the soil under the bushes is not acidic or you need to do liming before applying.

During the period of fruit formation, you can feed with potassium salt. On a shrub, you can use 40 g of two-component potassium nitrate.

Top dressing gooseberries in autumn

First, before feeding, you need to prepare the soil - remove the foliage from under the bushes, cut off dry branches, treat with special means. After all the measures have been taken, you can begin to fertilize.

If autumn and summer were accompanied by constant rains, then under the bushes you need to pour ash in a liter jar and embed it in the soil.
