Growing methods
Growing a large crop of sweet peppers is easy if you follow a few rules. You need to plant bell peppers only with seedlings: Sow seeds for seedlings at the end of February, or at the beginning of March. Initially, you need to take a small container and pour the soil mixed with fertilizer into it. We make grooves no more than 1 cm deep, the distance between which should be at least 2 cm. Water the grooves and plant pepper seeds one by one, at a distance of 1 cm from each other. It is necessary to sprinkle the ground well from a spray bottle, cover with foil and put in a warm place. Every day you need to ventilate and spray the seedlings. The first shoots will appear in 5-7 days. The container should also stand in a dark, warm place under the film until the seedlings grow 1-1.5 cm out of the ground, the main thing is not to forget to spray it regularly as well. After the seedlings have grown up, the film can be removed and put the container with the seedlings on the window. Daylight should be at least 10 hours, if natural light is not enough, you need to put additional lighting lamps. You need to water the seedlings every day, but it is best to do this in the evening. As soon as two leaves appear on the seedlings, the first top dressing must be introduced into the ground, and two weeks later the second. After another 7 days, the seedlings should be transplanted into cups one at a time. Cups are also placed on a window with natural or artificial lighting, and watered every evening.
Growing instructions
Two weeks before planting, the seedlings need to be gradually hardened. Seedlings should be planted in open ground at the very end of May - early June. To do this, dig holes up to 50 cm deep and add humus there. Water the seedlings liberally in cups, then carefully remove the seedling so as not to damage the root. You also need to pour water into the hole, and set the plant strictly in the center, spread the roots and cover it with earth. A small stake is inserted into the ground, and for stability, a plant is carefully tied to it. The distance between the seedlings should be at least 40 cm. Most of all, bell peppers are afraid of temperature changes, so the first time after transplanting it needs to be covered with something, during the day from the rays of the sun, and at night from the cold. The shelter can be removed when the plant has completely taken root in a new place. The seedlings will grow rapidly in the second week after transplanting. In order for the seedlings to start well and grow quickly, you need to moderately water and loosen it every day, only this must be done very carefully so as not to damage the roots that are not deep. For the plant to be strong and lush, it needs to be pinned, that is, pinned on the top. But this should be done not before the seedling grows up to 35 cm. Insects pollinate the pepper, but if this is not enough, you need to take a brush, and carefully, without damaging the flowers, transfer the pollen from one to the other. If you plant several varieties of bell peppers, then they should be at a distance from each other so that there is no cross-pollination between them. Pepper, like everyone else, has diseases and pests. To prevent this, prevention will help by watering with a special solution, the main thing is not to overdo it. Routine watering is generally very important for pepper, the ground should always be moist, but there should not be stagnant water. It is best to water early in the morning as the peppers will be cold at night.
Where and when is it better to plant bell peppers
You need to plant peppers in a sunny place so that nothing growing nearby casts a shadow. Watering and loosening should be regular. It is better to water it with warm water, and so that it does not stagnate, but the ground is always moist.
How to collect seeds
You can determine the maturity of a pepper by its color and firmness. The seeds can be harvested by themselves, for this the largest and sweetest fruit must be overripe so that it becomes soft and wrinkled. We cut it, take out the seeds, dry it (even in the sun) and store it in a dark place. Germination of such seeds is three years.
