Herbaceous got its name in honor of a medical specialist from Sicily, Bocconi, who studied various herbaceous plants. In one thousand eight hundred and twenty-six, this plant was recorded to the Macleaya genus, which got its name in honor of the ethnologist from Britain, Alexander MacLay. After that day, two variants of the name of the plant are known - "Bocconia" and "Maclay". In the circle of Russian summer residents, the second option is usually mentioned. In Great Britain, the plant is called "pappy plume", translated into Russian it means "fluff", "poppy" or "poppy".
Bocconia description
Maclay is a herbaceous species that has been growing for several years, most commonly found in tropical locations such as China, America and Japan. The plant has large foliage in the form of lobes, diameters of about twenty centimeters, grayish, greenish or olive in color. The part of the foliage located below is slightly inclined. The stems of this herbaceous greenish color with a compacted gray bloom, straightened, strong, grow up to two hundred centimeters.

This plant has two small sepals that fall when the inflorescence opens. The herbaceous petals are not available, and the figure of the fruit is very similar to a pea pod. The number of seeds varies from one to four.

This plant is intended for large areas; in a small area, the herbaceous one looks strange and does not fit into the overall composition.
Areas with direct sunlight or partially shaded areas are excellent options for grassy growth. Herbaceous looks more interesting next to plants of small stature, phloxes will become an excellent neighbor for them.

In the first layer, about fifteen to twenty centimeters, peat, compost and thirty to forty grams of all kinds of top dressing in the complex are poured. All ingredients must be mixed.
Bocconia reacts negatively to a change in the place of growth.
Immediately before planting the plant, you need to move it for thirty minutes to all kinds of growth stimulants. The root system is placed in the preparation for six to twelve hours, then they are planted. If the summer resident decided to plant this plant on the back, it is required to take into account its specificity of accelerated growth, and limit the growth of the root system by placing the slate foliage in the soil in advance. It is possible to immediately plant the herbaceous plant in a free container without a bottom. Immediately after planting, the plant needs to be thoroughly moistened, it is possible to use those components in which the plant was soaked, adding the required amount of water in advance. The soil near the grassy one is covered with mulch.
The plant does not have the required amount of energy required to ripen the seed. They are characterized by low germination. Seed material from the nursery is planted directly into the fresh air in the spring and autumn seasons without prior preparation. At a temperature of twenty - twenty-five degrees - seedlings are formed after seven days. In indoor realities, it is possible to land in containers, and when the first powerful leaf is formed, dive. After the end of the frost, herbaceous plants are planted in fresh air.
Dilute herbaceous simply by dividing the bush. In the spring or autumn seasons, the herbaceous shrub should be carefully removed from the ground and separated in parts containing one or two buds. When dividing in the autumn season, the stems must be pruned, and not touching a small stump is a reference point. The cut areas must be sprinkled with charcoal. To endure the winter season, the planted shrubs are covered with a layer of mulch. It is possible to cover with a piece of lutrasil.
Breeding herbaceous is possible with cuttings. At the beginning of the spring season, when the branches reach a length of eight to twelve centimeters, they are pruned with hemp. The cut section is lubricated with a special preparation and planted in a partially shaded place. Cover with a cropped bottle made of plastic. Then moisturize. Fourteen to twenty-one days later, the cuttings begin to grow. It is advised to prune the upper part so that the stalk grows as a bush.
Another method of breeding herbaceous is with the help of overgrowth. The bush brings shoots along the periphery, which forms its own root system. It can be carefully trimmed and planted. This method is performed at the end of the summer season.
