Vermicompost: basic information about the product
Vermicompost: basic information about the product
With the regular cultivation of various representatives of herbaceous crops on a permanent site, the soil loses nutrients and weakens, which means that it cannot be done without top dressing. Therefore, it is recommended to use organic fertilizers to give strength to the soil. Next, we will talk about what vermicompost is and how to use it correctly.
This dressing is biologically active, natural organic and environmentally friendly. Fertilizer originates from the processing of organic matter in the ground by red Californian worms. Digesting the remaining parts of organic matter, red Californian worms produce coprolites in the soil, which are another form of organic matter that is well consumed by herbaceous representatives.

Vermicompost: components and positive effects of this product
This top dressing contains a mixture of nutrients, useful microelements and macronutrients, soil antibiotics, enzymes, growth hormones and vitamins that the plant needs for normal growth. Top dressing based on vermicompost is about four to eight times better than manure and rotted compost in terms of nutrient organic matter. However, this top dressing does not contain pathogenic microflora, weed seeds and helminth eggs.
This natural top dressing ideally fills the soil with nutrients and has a pleasant soil smell. Vermicompost is also similar in color to soil. It goes well with various other organic substances and increases the taste of fruits, and also reduces stress in representatives of herbaceous crops and improves their immunity.
The effect of vermicompost on representatives of herbaceous crops:
- promotes the growth and development of the root system.
- accelerates the pecking of the planting material.
- improves the immunity of representatives of herbaceous crops to a variety of infectious diseases.
- promotes the flowering process.
- accelerates the ripening of the harvest, improves their taste and the amount of the harvest.
- stops the storage of nitrates in herbaceous crops.
Vermicompost cannot spoil the soil. An excessive amount of dressing has an extremely good effect on the condition of the soil and various representatives of herbaceous crops. Herbaceous independently takes the amount of nutrients it needs.
More effective pure vermicompost, however, it is extremely difficult to find it on the shelves in supermarkets. Usually they sell a soil mixture, which is based on compost, vermicompost and peat. And for the most effective feeding, it is recommended to go to a livestock farm: a huge number of red Californian worms are in rotted manure.
Moreover, vermicompost is quite easy to get at home. All you need to do is buy red California worms and place them in a favorable breeding environment (just place them in a compost bin).
Biohumus liquid and dry: how to use it correctly
Biohumus liquid and dry: how to use it correctly
This much used natural dressing can be used for seedlings, various flowers and other herbaceous representatives. There is only one note in its use: it is still recommended to use it in open soil. This fresh fertilizer does not combine well with indoor plants, because the fertilized soil is an excellent site for the vital activity of parasites, it is quite difficult to remove them in a living room. If necessary, endow the soil with useful substances in various containers with indoor plants, then vermicompost (liquid vermicompost is recommended) is applied no more than once every sixty days.
Top dressing is used at different times from the spring season to the autumn season. Vermicompost is best applied when digging up the soil or added to all planting holes when planting seedlings or seedlings of trees and bushes in the soil.
On the beds and flower beds, it is possible to use dry (in granules) and liquid biohumus. Dry fertilizer granules are simply placed in the soil, and a solution is made from a special concentrate of liquid fertilizer.
It is recommended to combine liquid fertilizer with seedlings of indoor flowers; dressing is usually used at the beginning of the spring season and before the beginning of the second summer month.
How to properly apply dry vermicompost fertilizer
As it was written above, there is no excessive amount of vermicompost in the soil. However, for excellent growth and nutrition of the herbaceous crop, more than the minimum portion must be added.
It is advised to keep the following indicators:
Potato crops need two hundred grams in all planting holes, this is a normal amount of fertilization.
Berry (especially strawberry) crops need one hundred and fifty grams for all fruiting shrubs, this is a normal amount of fertilization.
Winter crops need seven hundred grams per square meter, it must be mixed with the first layer of soil, this is the normal amount of fertilizer.
Vegetable (tomato) crops need one hundred to two hundred grams in all planting holes, this is a normal amount of fertilizer.
Vegetables and greens need five hundred grams per square meter, must be mixed with the first layer of soil, this is the normal amount of fertilizer.
Fruit trees need five to ten kilograms for all the seedlings, this is a normal amount of fertilization.
Berry bushes need one kilogram five hundred grams per one planting hole, it must be mixed with the first layer of soil, this is a normal amount of fertilizer.
To fertilize trees, garden flowers, shrubs and vegetable crops during the growing season, five hundred grams of dry vermicompost is spent per square meter, mixed with the first layer of soil and thoroughly moistened.
How to properly apply this fertilizer in liquid form
How to make this top dressing is written on the packaging with vermicompost. The components added to the dressing directly regulate the proportions, which can vary. Most often, you need to take one cup of concentrated liquid, mix the containers with ten liters of settled water of warm temperature and let it brew in a not cold room. The fertilizer solution should be mixed regularly until the feeding completely disappears.
Before starting to use, the solution of this liquid fertilizer must settle in a not cold room for at least four hours. And at the end of the flowering process and at the time of the formation of the ovaries of the crop, fertilizer is not produced at all.
Greens and others need one use of the drug in seven days, a solution of two hundred milliliters per ten liters of liquid, this is a normal amount of fertilizer.
Vegetables need one use of the drug in seven days, a solution of one hundred milliliters per ten liters of liquid, this is the normal amount of fertilizer.
Strawberries and other fruiting berry bushes need one use of the drug in seven days, a solution of sixty milliliters per ten liters of water, this is the normal amount of fertilizer.
Garden flowers need a double use of the drug in thirty days, a solution of ten to fifteen milliliters per liter of water, this is the normal amount of fertilizer.
Grapes and citrus fruits need a double use of the drug in thirty days, a solution of two hundred and fifty milliliters per ten liters of water, this is the normal amount of fertilizer.
Representatives of herbaceous crops in flower beds moisten in proportions ten liters of top dressing per square meter or five hundred milliliters - two liters for each herbaceous crop.
Other ways of using liquid vermicompost
Even in vermicompost it is possible to soak the planting material. The concentrate is diluted with water in proportions of one to twenty, the planting material is placed in the prepared preparation and left there for a certain period of time:
- legumes leave no more than six hours.
- planting materials of greenery leave no more than twelve hours.
- potato crops are left for thirty to forty minutes.
- planting materials of vegetable crops are left for twenty-four hours.
- planting material of greenery is left no more than a day.
This liquid fertilizer is usually used in the process of planting seedlings in the soil. The concentrate is mixed with water one to fifty and the planting holes are moistened with it, then the seedlings are placed in them. An excessive amount will not have a positive effect, it will only burn the young root system. These fertilizers will increase the rooting of the seedlings and stimulate faster growth.
This liquid fertilizer is also used for foliar fertilization. The concentrate is mixed with water one to two hundred and used by spraying on foliage at the time of abundant herbaceous growth and crop formation.
According to summer residents, the best action from the use of vermicompost can be seen in cucumbers, tomatoes, eggplants and peppers.
