Bacopa
Content:
In my garden in the summer there are always many flowerpots with flowering plants. Among them, there is definitely Bacopa. This elegant beauty is resistant to pests and diseases, capable of blooming even at -4 degrees.
It is rather difficult to grow a Bacopa plant from seeds annually, and then it takes a long time to grow it to get a lush “basket”. But if you learn how to preserve a master specimen in the winter, so that you can then sketch out, then you can quickly multiply this graceful flower in any quantity.
About wintering a flower
Bacopa is a perennial. And it is logical to assume that, keeping the plant in winter, from year to year, you can enjoy its lush flowering. But the fact is that the bacopa flower blooms profusely only in the first season. This is why it is so important to renew the flower. However, it will not work to keep the mother plant in the apartment until spring. The garden plant will die at room temperature. You can't leave a flower in the basement either, since light is vital for it. Better to bring the bacopa into the glazed loggia. There should be a temperature from +8 to -1 degrees. Of course, in severe frost it is necessary to move it indoors. Alternatively, you can use a heater that will maintain the desired temperature in the loggia.
Bacopa flower: when to cut?
Astronomical spring for many plants begins in the first ten days of February, and Bacopa also wakes up. This is the most favorable time for grafting. We cut off the upper parts of the shoots about 10 cm long from the plant. Bacopa branches of colored varieties should be placed in a glass with Kornevin solution for 4 hours (according to the instructions). Then plant in wet sandy soil and cover with a plastic bag or plastic bottle. Instances with white petals are less whimsical. Their cuttings can be immediately planted in a container and watered. Three branches are enough for one lush "basket". Leaves and flowers can not be removed from them.
Bacopa: growing and caring for a plant
Bacopa is demanding for watering. In pots, the soil dries out quickly, so a little hydrogel can be added to the substrate to retain moisture.
In the garden, plant the bacopa flower in well-lit areas. In the shade, the shoots will stretch and thin out, flowering will become scarce.
When weeding bacopa, keep in mind that the root system of the plant is shallow.
Bacopa: seed propagation
Bacopa seeds are sown in pots in March. The primer can be bought universal for flowers. Previously, I recommend spilling it with a light pink solution of potassium permanganate or a solution of "Fitosporin" (according to the instructions). Seeds are laid out on the surface, do not sprinkle with soil. Then they put plastic transparent bags on the pots and put them in the sunniest and warmest place. For germination of bacopa seeds, the optimum temperature is about +25 degrees. As soon as shoots appear, the packages must be removed immediately.
A secret from the gardener
“Personally, I never dive seedlings of Bacopa, as I practice bouquet planting. I transfer the seedlings in clumps into large hanging pots "
