Eggplant Banana is a fairly fast ripening variety, one might say ultra-early ripening. You can grow this vegetable outdoors. The first fruits of the Banana eggplant are ready for harvesting already 90 days after sowing the seeds. If you carry out proper care, then the amount of harvest from 1 sq. m can reach 4-4.5 kg. This variety can be stored for a very long time, which will not affect its taste and appearance in any way.

The Banana eggplant variety received such an unusual name for its external resemblance to the exotic banana fruit. The fruits themselves of this vegetable are of an even oblong shape, in length they can be about 20-25 cm. Eggplant has very good taste. Its color is dark purple, the surface is glossy and shiny. The inside of the eggplant Banana has a white flesh that is not bitter at all. This variety is good for frying, as well as canning and preparing various salads.
As the plant grows, a bush begins to form. It is rather small and low (about 35-40 cm). The leaves are very large and wide. The dense and very firm stem allows a large number of fruits to ripen. Thanks to this feature, the eggplant does not need to be provided with any supports.

Banana eggplant seedlings are grown by sowing seeds at home or in a greenhouse in February-March. However, this period may fluctuate because conditions and climate in the regions are different. Seeds sprout after 5-10 days. A healthy and strong seedling with an already stable stem and at least 5-6 leaves grows in another 20-25 days.
Transplanting seedlings is not recommended due to the poor tolerance of this process. Therefore, it is better to sow seeds in separate pots. When planting eggplants in open ground, you can use the transshipment method, not diving seedlings. This process should be carried out only after the frost has passed and stable weather has established. In regions with a warm climate, seedlings can be planted in mid-April. But in cold areas, planting may well drag on until the end of May or early June.
The soil for Banana eggplants is needed fertile, not burdened by previous plantings of vegetables. Experienced gardeners are advised to start preparing the land 1 year before planting this vegetable. During this period of time, it does not cost anything to grow on the allocated area, it is only subject to processing from garbage and litter and fertilization. But if for some reason this preparation is impossible, then it is better to plant the eggplant after cabbage, legumes or carrots. But the soil after potatoes, peppers and tomatoes is categorically not suitable, because with similar agricultural techniques, the taste of eggplant may not please you.
In particular, caring for the Banana eggplant variety includes regular application of nutrients, weeding and high-quality periodic watering. Yellow leaves appearing on the plant must be removed. For prevention purposes, you need to constantly spray with special agents from diseases.
Adhering to simple rules in growing and further caring for banana eggplants, you will achieve a good, high-quality harvest, and the harvested fruits will be stored for a long time and delight you with a wonderful taste and appearance.
Eggplant Banana: variety reviews

My favorite eggplant variety is Banana.Certain knowledge is not required in caring for it, and its external and taste qualities are simply excellent. In the garden, I do not allocate a separate place for him, I plant it together with other varieties. 4 bushes are enough for our family. During the season, we collect about 2-2.5 kg of eggplants from each bush. We have many relatives and friends who often come to visit for barbecue. Together with the meat, we also fry the eggplant Banana. It can be cooked on skewers and grilled, because they are thin, the peel does not crack, but bakes quickly. But it is not worth making caviar from it, it is better to immediately eat it, cut it into circles and simply fry it in oil. I select the smoothest and most beautiful fruit for seeds. I grow seedlings indoors. It is most convenient to do this in ordinary paper cups. Every time you get a lot of shoots, you have to distribute them to friends and neighbors.

The harvest from your own garden is very pleasing, especially helps in the winter. We mainly make pickles and jams, and we leave some vegetables for storage in a box with sawdust. So they can lie until winter. We dry eggplants. We also grow the Banana eggplant variety. Since it ripens quite quickly, I collect them immediately when they reach about 10 cm. It is convenient to put fruits of this size in large 3-liter jars. Thus, I marin them for the winter just like that, whole. And then in winter you can get them, add oil and onions, you get a very tasty and unusual salad. And for frying, it is better to cut these eggplants thicker. In this form, they will not wrinkle much and will not absorb much oil. You can also bake banana eggplant in the oven - I did it with minced meat and cheese. This type of eggplant is perfect for this cooking method. When growing, I do not adhere to any special rules - these eggplants grow well and almost never get sick. All I do is periodically add humus, try to prevent the soil from drying out and weed on timeEggplant Banana: photo of the variety

I want to say that Banana eggplant is a variety that may not be to everyone's liking. The fruits themselves are too thin, you cannot make caviar from them. The best thing is to fry right away while they are fresh. They are also not suitable for drying: if they are cut into thick pieces, then inside they do not dry out, which is why they subsequently grow moldy. And if you cut it thinly, then only one skin will remain. Therefore, it is best not to plant too much of this variety. But I want to note that the eggplant Banana yield is large - from 6 planted bushes, we had enough fruits to eat enough, and also leave it in a box with sawdust for the winter. And to plant seedlings, I leave one eggplant on each bush, because they are practically absent in the pulp, and then I collect the seeds. I do not dive seedlings, why transplant again. This variety of eggplant is rather capricious when transplanting, I would advise you to do it by transshipment. Be sure to leave a clod of earth at the same time.
