Asteriscus flower: description

The variety of Asteriscus species is represented by 15 representatives. Among them there are both perennial and annual varieties.
This herbaceous creeping plant has yellow flowers, differing only in the saturation of the shade. They are usually small, but sometimes, under excellent external conditions, they can grow up to 16 cm in diameter. The leaves of the asteriscus are lowered, they are rather narrow. In height, this flower can reach about 25-35 cm, it has a fairly large number of shoots that can occupy large territories. The habitat of the asteriscus is a warm and humid climate.
Asteriscus: seaside and dwarf
These 2 types are the most common:
- Asteriscus marine (seaside). It is a small (15-20 cm) perennial plant. The stems of this species are very similar to the branches of a shrub, and the inflorescences are like daisies. Their size is no more than 3 cm, and the color gradually brightens from the yellow center on the petals. The stem of the asteriscus is completely filled with oblong leaves.
- Asteriscus dwarf - an annual herb. It differs from the sea asteriscus in inflorescences and in the method of spreading its seeds. At the end of the flowering period, the achene begins to form, which is stored until spring. It begins to open when favorable conditions are created for the propagation and germination of seeds (warmth, a lot of sunlight and moisture).
Asteriscus, due to its small size and love of warmth, can grow at home. To do this, it is better to pick up rather wide pots for him so that he can fill them entirely.
Asteriscus prefers a lot of sunlight and systematic irrigation, as well as watering. Only it is imperative to provide him with good drainage, otherwise he may rot or die from stagnant moisture. You also need to periodically apply mineral fertilizers, then it will grow well and bloom throughout the warm season. It is better to choose a sunny place for growing, then the flowering will be more abundant.
How to grow seedlings

Asteriscus can be propagated by seeds, transplanting new shoots or cuttings. The latter method is best used for perennials, and for annuals it is better to grow seedlings before planting in open ground.
Before this, seeds are planted for seedlings about 2 months before transplanting to a permanent place. In the regions of the middle zone of our country, it is produced in May (early June). In warm regions, you can plant an asteriscus in April, and in cold regions - mid to late June.
In order to grow seedlings, you must first pour drainage into the selected container, on top of it
Nutrient soil. Seeds are sown from above and lightly sprinkled with a small layer of earth. After that, you need to moisten the soil with a sprayer. Then the container is covered with a bag until the first shoots appear. It is better to thin out the seedlings, leaving about 6 cm between them. When the first 2 leaves become visible, it is worth starting to harden the plant. When it can withstand 24 hours in the open air, then it's time to transplant it into the ground.
When the asteriscus blooms, pinch the shoots. Then it will have thick and lush foliage and more inflorescences. To make your flower bed look not only beautiful, but also neat, do not forget to remove dried inflorescences.
