Pansies - care and reproduction, cultivation features
Content:
Ever since childhood, everyone could observe beautiful, multi-colored, compact bushes everywhere: in the garden of their grandmother, in the decorative flower beds of the city. The colors are varied and the name is lovely, as is the pansy look. In general, the name of this attractive flower is -violet tricolor... But the popular name is more familiar to everyone. Each grower will always allocate a small, and maybe impressive size, place in his flower garden.
Pansy Flowers
The flower is divided into two types - perennial and annual. The maximum height of the bush is up to 30 cm, a significant similarity with a violet. During the growing season, forms a compact bush, but grows by the flowering period. Reproduction occurs independently, the seeds formed are scattered, forming new plants. Maybe that's why the garden violet is considered simple in terms of care and sowing. The violet takes root quickly, is unpretentious to the soil. The fact that flowering occurs in the earliest period - the second half of April, suggests that it is also cold-resistant. Blooming is pleasing to the eye throughout the summer. The inflorescences of the simplest varieties are no more than 4 cm in diameter. However, the breeders have tried and the new varieties they have bred can have flowers up to 7 cm in diameter.
According to survey statistics, this is one of the favorite flowers of gardeners. But if you do not have a plot, then this plant is perfectly located in pots on the balcony, windowsill. The color delights with its quirkiness and originality. It can be just white, or maybe up to 5-7 shades on one flower: yellow, purple, red, blue and many others. other shades. In the middle of the inflorescence there is a peephole, contrasting in color with the color of the petals. Probably this sign, the presence of an eye, gave the popular name - pansies. A plant from the violet family, and if officially called, the Vittrock violet, some gardeners call it simply-Viola. According to the variety, perennials are also subdivided into several representatives.
Pansies cultivation
One story will serve as an example of unpretentiousness. Two sisters, in different areas, tried to grow this beautiful flower. The first one every year, invariably tries to propagate pansies in her flower beds. But, alas, in the spring, expectations are reduced to zero. In the fall, the plants fade and every season they have to be planted again. The other one bought, once, seedlings, admired the indescribable beauty all summer and did not even expect offspring for the next season. Surprise knew no bounds next spring, each flower bed again delighted with all the variegation of the flower. Another surprise was that the variety that she acquired turned out to be selective, and even perennial. This story proves once again that the violet is unpretentious in reproduction and scatters the seeds by itself. And in the case of the first sister, it turned out that her seedlings were just one-year-olds, “sterile”.
Pansies care
This procedure is quite simple: good lighting and fertile soil to a minimum. You can simply purchase a special soil for each flower bed. And also, independently apply mineral fertilizers, enriching the land. Apply fertilizers in spring and autumn, just digging up (potassium and phosphorus, necessary for flowering, nitrogen for green cover). The use of fresh manure can adversely affect flowers, therefore it is considered a contraindicated fertilizer. As a result of the introduction of manure, the soil becomes not just fertile, but oily. Violets, by their origin, are not adapted to such soil. This flower used to live in the wild at the edges of the forest, where the soil is simply fertile.
Watering should be moderate. However, an excess of moisture leads to the formation of rot and the plant dies. Watering periodically and then loosening will help the flowers survive any summer anomalies (prolonged heat). If watering is rare, and the temperature is high, this will also adversely affect development. The bushes become extensive, spreading, trying to retain moisture, and the inflorescences will be very small, pale. If any larvae are found in the ground, immediately engage in elimination. Larvae can be the most vicious enemies of violets. For example, the May beetle, during the summer period, can destroy several bushes.
Outdoor pansies
It is practically very difficult to overestimate the fascination with the indescribable beauty and, at the same time, the simplicity of this lovely plant. Violet is included in the landscape of any design, every second alpine slide is decorated with this charm.
