Ammonia for the garden
When a gardener is actively involved in his plot, he strives to try as many means as possible in the fight against pests and diseases. One of the most effective means today is ammonia water, which is used to process crops such as cucumbers and tomatoes, to feed onions, garlic, and cabbage, which also needs to be protected from pests, bacteria and related diseases.
Basically, ammonia is known among more experienced gardeners who use a substance that is mixed with water to feed plants and crops. In its pure form, ammonia is a fairly strong chemical, so it is not recommended to take it in its original form. A 10% solution of this agent is sold in pharmacies, which can also be found in shops for gardeners and gardeners.
Ammonia has its positive effect due to the fact that it contains a high content of the effective component - nitrogen. In free form, this substance is practically not absorbed, but if you use it in a bound form, that is, in the form of some chemical compounds that are absorbed into the soil, then it is ideal for plants and crops as fertilizer and additional support in the fight against pests and bacteria. In addition, the pungent smell of ammonia, which does not have the most pleasant effect on a person, all the more frightens off insects and pests, thereby protecting the plant from their attacks.
Use of ammonia for site treatment and pest control
Of course, there are a few things to consider when using ammonia. This component can very successfully resist insects or pests that encroach on future crops. Below we give a few basic recommendations that will allow you to effectively use ammonia for the intended purposes.
- if the gardener decided to use ammonia for the prevention and control of the bear, then before planting the cabbage, it is necessary to pour about half a liter of solution into each harvested hole. Previously, it should be diluted with 10 milliliters of ammonia in order to obtain a sufficient concentration that does not cause any damage;
- in order to prevent the appearance of an onion fly, as well as a pest such as a lurking proboscis, it is necessary in June every seven days to process onion and garlic beds with a solution that contains ammonia. For 10 liters of water, you need to use about 25 milliliters of ammonia. With a high probability of the occurrence of pests, watering must be extended for the whole summer, carried out with the same frequency;
- when a gardener treats cabbage with ammonia water, he also additionally protects the plant from slugs and caterpillars, snails and fleas, as well as from the very common cabbage fleas. In this case, the solution must be prepared as follows: 80-100 milliliters of ammonia are diluted with 10 liters of water. The gardener should spray the leaves with the resulting solution, the frequency is about once every 4 days.If slugs reappear, then heads of cabbage can also be watered abundantly with ammonia water, this will not cause any harm to the crop, moreover, ammonia water is simply washed off with water, so it is unlikely to get into the human body.
It is also worth mentioning the foliar treatment of plants with ammonia water, which can be attacked by weevils. A solution is prepared from 25 milliliters of ammonia and 10 liters of water. The mixture is watered approximately every 3-4 days, directly into the beds. This does not in any way affect the taste of the resulting crop, it remains safe for humans.
In addition to the fact that ammonia water is used to get rid of harmful insects, it can also act as a fairly effective nitrogenous feeding, as we have already noted that ammonia is a nitrogen source. Nevertheless, it is necessary to use ammonia in moderation, since if it is used simultaneously with other nitrogen-containing preparations, this can negatively affect the state of the plant. An excess of nitrogen is, first of all, a deteriorating appearance of the plant, and then gradually developing stem and root diseases. So it should be remembered that in everything, measure is extremely important.
Feeding plants with ammonia solution
If you carry out preventive feeding of soil with ammonia water, then you can quite successfully solve the problem of a low level of soil fertility, since ammonia water includes a high nitrogen content, and this has a positive effect on the condition of the soil. If the plant has pale leaves, the flowers are practically not set, or their number is too small, then this just indicates that the plant suffers from a nitrogen deficiency in the soil. Clear signs of nitrogen deficiency are eliminated by feeding the plants with a concentrated ammonia solution, which is prepared in accordance with the instructions that we gave in the previous part of the article.
Also, fertilizer can be prepared as follows: mix 6 tablespoons of ammonia and 10 liters of lukewarm water. It is best to apply the solution immediately; it does not need any additional infusion at all. As for the frequency of application of the solution, this can be done no more than once a week. It is also worth dwelling in more detail on how to feed different crops with ammonia water.
As a rule, cucumbers can be fed several times before the first ovary appears. This requires 3 tablespoons of ammonia and one bucket of water. In general, this concentration is universal for all varieties of cucumbers. Watering can be done every week after shoots have appeared on the cucumber bush. As soon as the ovary appears, then feeding can be done more often - once every four days. If we are talking about preventive feeding with ammonia water, then it is necessary about twice a month. These same concentrations are ideal for processing not only cucumbers, but also lilies, bulbs and carrots.
If the gardener has decided to feed tomatoes with ammonia water, then he must prepare a very weak solution. To do this, add about two tablespoons of ammonia to a bucket of water, no more. Top dressing should be done after abundant watering of the soil, about once every 6-7 days. It is necessary to fertilize directly under the root so that the substance immediately penetrates where it was originally intended.
Onion - if its feathers are weak, yellowed and dry, then this indicates that the onion is missing some component, and it is extremely important to take some measures. For example, in order to make root feeding of onions, about 60 milliliters of ammonia should be dissolved in a bucket of water. This concentrated watering is recommended every few days to maintain the condition of the onion and prevent it from deteriorating.
If there is a need for an emergency or quick recovery of the onion, then it is best to use foliar feeding of the culture. To do this, you should take a bucket of water and let it settle a little. After that, add about 3 milliliters of ammonia, and the resulting solution is sprayed 1-2 times a week on the upper part of the plant and the beds as a whole. It is best to spray either late at night or in cloudy weather.
Thus, ammonia water becomes a truly universal remedy that has many positive qualities and properties that help plants and soils to recover and resist the attacks of various pests. One of the positive qualities is that ammonia water is completely safe for a person, so he can use it without fear for his health and life.
