Akakalis - description and characteristics
A rather unusual variety of herbaceous crops has been found in Brazil, Colombia, Venezuela and Peru. This representative of herbaceous cultures received its name Akakalis from the Greek language - “acacallis”, translated into Russian it means “goddess”.
The plant is epiphytic and has an elongated creeping root system. The shape resembles a spindle and has pseudobulbs bearing one or two leaves. The foliage of this herbaceous has the shape of a lancet. The flowers are collected in a brush, from three to five rather large flowers are formed on it, and they also exude a rather delicate, slightly sugar aroma. The inflorescences have a pastel color, usually light purple, light heavenly, cream, and sometimes snow-white. This herbaceous species prefers purified and fresh oxygen, sufficient sunlight and high humidity. This means that in warm seasons, the plant is recommended to be kept on the windowsill, however, the plant should be sheltered from direct sunlight and rain drops. Cold winds also have a negative impact on this herbaceous plant. During the winter season, due to the operation of batteries in residential premises, the level of moisture in the air usually decreases, it becomes too dry.
Plant care
In this case, place a glass of liquid next to this herbaceous one. If you have an aquarium in your apartment, then the plant can be placed near it. Evaporating, the liquid increases the level of humidity in the air near the grassy one. If the room is very humid, then it is required to ventilate the room twice a day, otherwise fungal diseases can form. In the winter season, daylight hours are reduced, which means that the grassy one needs to receive light from an additional source of illumination, thereby extending the daylight hours to ten hours. In the summer season, do not leave the grassy plant in direct sunlight, because the foliage can cause burns, and the grassy plant itself will overheat. It is recommended to move the plant behind the tulle.
Because the grassy loves oxygen quite strongly, then the substrate must allow air to pass through and constantly loosen. All kinds of containers are suitable for cultivation. When the herbaceous plant begins a period of abundant growth, then the plant needs additional components, therefore, at this moment, fertilization must be produced. It is required to moisten the herbaceous plant all year round, but the substrate needs to dry well, otherwise it can become infected or get rot of the root system. If you recently bought this representative of herbaceous crops, then do not change the place where the plant grows for some time, at least ninety to one hundred and twenty days. Let the herbaceous first adapt to your living quarters, climate, that is, it gets used to it and only then it is possible to change places of growth. Then the change of growing places is made only when the container in which the plant grows becomes small herbaceous.
